Abandoning School,education and went into FOOTBAG ??!!!

How Vaska doing at school? Anyone know? I failed 2 classes cuz i just got in this game. This year i only play 2 hours a day, because i am not going to graduate, and i immigrated from far away, it would be sad if my footbag skills are better than my English

hmm.... I am wondering how Vaska doing at school....

Footbag is my life. When people ask "is that all you do in your spare time??" I answere "No... I go to school and do homework and stuff in my spare time. My spare time is when I'm not playing footbag." I play footbag ALOT, but this is just sumthing I say. Personaly, I don't think I would ever quit school to play footbag. I get plenty of footbag squeezed in as it is, and education is HELLA important... I'll stick with it.

there's tons of good footbaggers who graduated highschool
i suppose if one were to spend all the time they'd be in school on freestyle then sure.. anyone would be better sooner, but you can't make anything close to a living off of being good at freestyle. How many pro athletes drop out of HS anyhow? I don't think any.. cuz they need to make it to college

lol. No actually not all pro sports players come from America

I can think of about 5 people I played sport with who are now pro sportsmen.

Jason Laycock (AFL) dropped out of school when he was drafted by Essendon (one of the top pro teams).

Bo Jamieson (Cycling) dropped out of school when he was selected into the Australian Institute of Sport for cycling (and later the Australian Cycling team) although you still do school work at the AIS until year 10 (and can do more after that) so maybe he's still schooling.

Mark "pin dick" Holloway dropped out of school to focus on touch football which isn't even a pro sport but he also works part time. Mark is the first ever Tasmania to play for Australia. He was also part of the first ever tasmanian team to place at a nationals event (my first time playing state

)

Craig Walton dropped out of school to focus on triathlon and won a silver medal at the Atlanta Olympics I think. He was about 5 years older than I was but came and did a talk for us at school - he went to the same highschool I went to.

Also there was some girl in my year whose name I forget but she dropped out of school to do triathalon but I have no idea how she is going. She used to beat all the guys in swimming though. - Like for the 100 metre freestyle in div 1. they would swim the 4 fastest guys and the 4 fastest girls together and she would win.

Oh: Dom Oosterloo is a pro athlete (running I think) and he finished year 12.

But there are also plenty of people who are really good at sport and highly educated too. Actually I think everybody should stay in school. I was just giving the examples of the people I know. I think to be a pro sportsman you have to be fairly driven and prepared to put most things aside for your goals. However footbag is not a pro sport - you have to pay to compete at events, there's not nearly enough prize money to make a living out of it - yet.

Actually, do u think u will abandon school for right now and study later? Like if u start play footbag early is better and for studying u can study when u are 20 and work really hard. Cuz i realize 1 year school stuffs can be done in 1 - 2 months Summer schools -_-;;

Anyway English is not my first language and its kind of tough for me

Definately don't dop out of highschool -- you have so much free time in highschool, anyway, unless you're in all advanced classes or something.

Derek Vandall can bust 69 > 69 and is taking engineering in university (really intense) -- so don't think you can't be amazing at both footbag and school. School is sooo good, and going to university ("college" in the United States of America?) when you're young is SUCH a good idea. If hadn't taken time off I would have had my first degree when I was 20 or 21!

SCHOOL IS SO GOOD!!!!

(doesn't Sunil have some crazy-amazing PhD, or something???)

Being happy at work is one of my main goals of life. I guess it is very useful to have all necessary opportunities to do this job after you found out what will make you happy.
For example it sucks if you want to work as a teacher but you got no ability to enter the college for required education.

Moreover there are many many subjects which will improve your personality and your ability to master life in general- it would be dumb to disclaim that by a few hours more footbag.

I am studying and I can shred 10-15 hours per week - that is enough for my bones

If anyone decides to drop out of school, they should have a good backup plan. Footbag is not a good backup plan, because you can't do it for a living (yet).

If I had a choice to either go to school or play footbag I would choose footbag, because that is what's most important to me. But I have time for both. I don't think that school gets in the way of my shredding, but if for some reason it did, I would consider droping out.

It is still possible to play footbag even with advanced classes. My 12th grade year, I was in a bunch of AP classes (including Calc) and played on the volleyball team, and I still had time to play 1 to 2 hours of footbag a day. The next year in college, I had over 12 hours of classes (I think 13 one semester and 15 the other) and worked 4 nights of the week and still had 3 hours to play footbag everyday. I am not even close to being as great as Vasek though...

I graduated high school with pretty average (like, mid 70ish) marks, and that's when I did perhaps 2 hours of homework a week and +10 hours of footbag a week. If I hadn't of gotten into footbag, I could have easily been an honour student.

Now I'm working at a processing facility doing assembly line stuff. 11 hours of my day consists of getting ready for work, driving to/from work and working, and I still am able to do 2 - 2.5 hours of footbag a day.

Whatever you choose to do, if you make footbag a priority then I wouldn't worry about time isues
