Thanksgiving

Today, Thursday the 24th of November 2005, is Thanksgiving Day in the US. It's a big national holiday where people get together with family, pig out, and give thanks for various things. In the spirit of the day, post what you are thankful for footbagwise.

Some off the top of my head.

-I'm thankful that I found footbag over 8 years ago.
-I'm thankful that I've spent less money on footbag equipment in 8 years, than most snowboarders do in one season.
-I'm thankful that I stuck with footbag, after taking 6 months off in the year 2000 and almost quitting.
-I'm thankful that Paul Mestas invented Revolution bags. Affordable, already broken in bags that you can give to beginners? Such a huge leap for the sport.
-I'm thankful for the online community that Modified provides.
-I'm thankful that now there are tons of high-quality shred videos available for free on a constant basis via the internet.
-I'm thankful that I have incredibly good friends all around the world, who I wouldn't have met without footbag.

-I'm thankful for Justin Dale teaching me all I need to know about the sport on top of what I already know.
-I'm thankful that I have not had an injury in my two years of playing.
-I'm thankful for modified.
-I'm thankful for people like Steve Goldberg.
-I'm thankful that I'm able to be a part of one of the most unique footbag tournaments in the world.

Though the Finns don't celebrate Thanksgiving and all we know about it is what we read from the Donald Duck comics:

-I'm thankful that I changed snowboarding to footbag (I didn't buy all the top equipment when I did that but still; I've played footbag more or less for 2-3 years and I still haven't spent the same amount of money to it as I spent for the first season. But I do have the top equipment.

-I'm thankful that although I played the first two years not seriously and I've played the whole time solo, I'm still doing it
-I'm thankful that I've got to know with a lot of friendly people and for example got postcards from people I've never met
-I'm thankful that after countless hours of playing solo I've few times got the chance to shred with other people
-I'm thankful that there's a sport called footbag

(-I'm thankful that I don't play net - at least not yet.

Even though thanksgiving in Canada was a month ago...
I'm thankful that despite my injury preventing me from playing for almost 2 years that I still totally love the sport and am constantly air shredding and watching videos.
I'm thankful for all the great people I have met and who have put me up in their homes. (Mike Wiwchar, Rob Fuller, Camille Surovy...probably others?)
I'm thankful to all the amazing people who were so nice to me and showed me how to play when I was beginning.
I'm thankful to Chad for being in She's All That and getting me into footbag in the first place.
I'm thankful to the kids in highschool who started playing "hacky sack" and got me totally addicted in the first place.
I'm thankful to Steve Goldberg for making footbag.org.
I'm thankful to Joel Dion for starting Hackrifice, being so inspiring and energetic and promotional, for teaching me the basic tricks, for giving me footbags.
I'm thankful to Mark Leeman for being the best player in Winnipeg and being so awesome and inspiring (and for giving my brother his first pair of lavers).
I'm thankful to Taras Zaporozan for teaching me practically everything I can do and for being really fun to hang out with and driving me to jams every weekend (that goes for Mark, Andrew, and Derek too >_______<)
I'm thankful to Derek and Andrew for being so awesome at footbag and inspiring me to get better and to Andrew for putting so much work into our first Joelless Hackrifice tournament ever!
I'm thankful to James Risden and Ricky Moran for being my heroes.
I'm thankful to Jeremy and Modevia for hosting Modified @_________@
And everyone else and everything else I forgot.
Oh, my parents for driving me hours and hours to tournaments.
And to great stitchers who make and sell us all bags!
And to the people who test shoes and stuff, like Eli and Tom.

As Erik said, Thanksgiving was a long time ago, but I'm tankfull for all this stuff anyway!

-I'm thankful to Josh Waybourn (<--spelled wrong prolly) for giving me my first dose of freestyle footbag, and for showing me the sport existed
-I'm thankful to Tom Mosher for inspiring me, and for pushing me WAY deeper into the wonderful world of footbag
-I'm thankful for footbag.org for alot of inspiration and information
-I'm thanful to Tom Mosher again for giving me the idea to take up stitching, and for showing me some of it's finer points
-Tom mosher AGAIN for holding the first tournament I ever went to
-I'm thanful for Jamie McTeague for being there to shred with every day
-I'm thankful for All the other pro stitchers who make such great bags
-I'm thankful to my mom for teaching me the basic idea of stiching, and for helping me with my first footbags
-I'm thankful for all the awsome videos that are out there, ready to be watched
-I'm thanfull for the cost efficiancy of footbag
-the conveniece of footbag
-I'm thanful for everything footbag!!

I'm thankful I grew up in northern California with awesome parents who bought me the Rod Laver shoes in high school so I could get better and better at footbag.

I'm also thankful that Peter Irish, Sam Conlon, and Tim Kelley came to my high school and taught me the trick Butterfly stall.

Thanks to Ethan Husted I actually won big prize money at CSS3.

Thanks Daryl Genz for always being there to spread the fun at every event.

Thanks to Zeke Ibardaloza I now have 7 more awesome old shred bags that he GAVE me for FREE. 32 panelled bags too. I've used a bag I got from him for every competition since.

yeah...you should all be glad your parents decided you werent too much of a hassle to have; instead of having you surgically removed, being simply a part of your mother and all! phew...dodged a bullet on that one! you should all ask your parents what financial shape they were in when they had you, and what they would have done otherwise.
