How involved should a significant other get with Your sport

Post by tuomoruutufan »

So your gf or bf doesnt play footbag what a surprise. in that case, what level of involvement do you want, expect, and end up getting from your significant other

My ex was involved enough to see me hit a new trick and know that it wasnt easy, She tried to learn how to kick and do some stalls and it was a no go, i didnt make a big deal about it.

But considering how much time we spend playing, in my situation im usually with cic almost ever saturday and sunday (summer time 8) ). The first thing that comes to mind is photography, Many girls are into it and a good shred circle will be giving plenty to photog.

I dont know im single right now and for some reason i would really like my next relationship (not in a hurry for one) to be somewhat involved in some way. I would love to say i would stop play and spend time with her and play frisbee and go for a walk (were usually playing in cool downtown places) But im so bad and i get caught up in game i just cant give the proper attention to her.

My ex saw me play with CIC once she watched and looked very bored and the only thing she said was, those guys are good and reile`s hot lol. Am I doomed to be leaving the woman in the dark and making her split our personal time between me and a footbag? Is their something im missing not thinking of that can get a gf to enjoy supporting this sport at least on a occasion.

THOUGHTS, ideas, stories, examples Anybody.

Again im single so why do i care, i guess im considering it in future reference and wtf its something to talk about?

I've always thought of footbag as a release from my life. I can get away from it all, and play.
The thought of being involved with another footbag player has excited, and scared me, to be honest. I don't know if I'd want my significant other too involved in it. However, a sence of appreciation or understanding would be good.

The way I see it is... you gotta make sacrifices for every relationship. Perhaps there's something else you could cut back on to spend time with your gf/bf?
Comment in the BCS blog if you feel the need to.

My advice is to keep both seperated. Everyone needs their own hobbies. It's good to share a lot of things with your SO but it's also a good idea to ave a hobby of your own that you know she won't be involved in. It also pretty much sucks having a gf get into fb, and then becoming your ex and then sticking with fb (think about it)!

why don't you give each other makeovers and watch America's Next Top Model while she shreds....my point: there are two types of relationships, two people who are lost and in need of dependence. The other is two strong individuals who wish to embrace each others differences by exposing and appreciating what makes them the independent people that they are. If she likes footbag she will. If not, you're probably better off ;)

I had a girlfriend once who tried to play footbag, and she thought it was cool, and even came to a tournament, but man, she SUCKED at it! so I dumped her ass.

edit: this is a complete lie... well, it's true up until "dumped her ass" ;) we broke up for other reasons... haha, just wanted to clear my record...

8O Haha wow man that's pretty harsh. It's funny cuz since I've been playin I've thought, wow it'd be cool to have a gf that shreds. Cuz then you could share EVERYTHING! Plus like right after an intense session, you could go for a different type of intense session...uh wait, I'm at work.. This line of thinking is bad. Anyway, it'd be kinda cool to date a chick that shreds, at least to see what it's like. 8)

Most of us probably have all thought about it I think. I think there bare minimum she should be involved in is at least respect the sport and your passion for it. Support would be great too. You can't make her nessessarly like the sport. I think it would get annoying if she decided to play without truely being interested and you had to "baby" her with everything and she played only when you did. Certain types of girls tend to play more than others, so personal taste comes involved too.

Sorry for all the "her"s when it could be guys too, just this forum is so male dominant.

I don't think my significant other should GET involved with footbag.

I think she should BE involved with footbag :!:

footbag is my life! I travel all over for it! I train it harder than anything else! All my friends are players! I simply NEED a footbag woman! Someone who can get on this worldwide rollercoaster of awesome insanity with me and ride it like a mechanical bull into the flaming sunset!

yay coffee! yay footbag!

i made my girl a thong out of facile panels. AND, i cut an old footbag in half, strung it up with some dental floss, and made her a skimpy top to match :D

SO romantic.

I wrote this big long post about my experiences with both having a shredder girlfriend (Peng) and about having an ex that is still around and then my computer crashed and I took it as a sign that i shouldn't post it for some reason.

I tried once to lure a significant other into footbag. The only thing I learned from the experience is that footbag is such good foreplay that it's impossible to teach to a significant other.

Still, it was fun to try.

It's something she has to be into to begin with. Footbag is something that really fucking sucks if you don't practice at. Especially for people like me who naturally suck at it.

It'd be like a girl who's in dance. Should she expect you to get involved just because she is?

Maybe we should just ask Genz?

I get great support in the last few days leading up to an event. I get great support the first day of an event. Then I catch hell until the next event.

This is a tricky issue. I sure do not have a handle on it. My gf plays footbag but she doesnt love it like I do. I adore footbag-without it my life would feel incomplete. Without it, she would probably feel better :P  There is a fine line between coercing your significant other to do what you want, and spending time together. Footbag makes me cross that line, which is sad in a way. I just keep hoping that as she continues to progress, footbag will become more fun for her. If that doesn't happen, I imagine she'll eventually give up mentally on footbag and so will I (give up on "making" her play). If she does get into it more, then there are guaranteed bouts of anger in our future, but also sweet, sweet moments of glory, which make it all worth it! Its a great feeling when you can pick up your shredding partner, both of you smiling, look at him/her, and give a huge congratulatory hug and kiss- there's nothing like it actually.
