Post by Zjeezy »

I was wondering what kind of editing software people are using to make their footbag videos. i just need something that will let me cut and edit things and add music basically. but it also has to be cheap becuase i dont have that much money. if anyone could help me out that would be sweet because im clueless.

If you have windows XP, chances are you have windows movie maker. I know other people don't like it for more advanced stuff, but its good for trimming, adding text and music.

I just use windows movie maker because I don't like lots of bells and whistles in my editing. It gets the job done.
I think that if you have a keen enough eye for timing and good, fun footage you don't need to over compensate with flashy whizzbangs.

The Movie Maker is good enough for cutting up the crappy .avi files my digital camera takes.

I use Premiere and enjoy flashy whizzbangs...in moderation. Combining good footage, keen timing, and flashy whizzbangs can make for a very captivating video.

But: Everything in moderation. :)

Premiere is a beautiful, beautiful thing. I do agree with the flahy wizz bangs statement though... overdone editing is terrible. I don't just make footbag videos though, so windows movie maker just aint enough. Speaking of which, I really should make that footbag video, I never get around to it.... that can be this summers job :D

You need a firewire card...or possibly, there may be an existing firewire port in your soundcard. Check first before you buy a new card (unlike me...who discovered it like 3 months later. Man I'm dumb.) otherwise you will feel silly, and it's a waste of money.

To buy:

Firewire Card (about $60 - $80) - Should come with a cable. I don't know why it wouldn't.
