Which colors to choose?!

Post by Guest_2 »

Here is where you'll find the info for the best colors of Facile for stitching and playing. So far the list is as follows:

The best:
Marmalade[!]
Rose Quartz
Blue Hawaii
Petit Pois
Dark Jade [!]
Midnight
Navy
Storm [Gray-a little bit thick-good for hexes]
Tea Rose [!] ~pink
Green Grape
Willow [!]
Rhapsody [!]

Good but weak:
Tulip [pills :-(]
White Petal
Blue Mist
Zebra patterned

Thick but good:
Atlantis [!]
Flash Red

The worst:
Purple Shadow
Cinnamon
Mandarin
Black Noir [pure crap]
Sunny Siena [awful]

I will continue to add to this comprehensive list as stitchers aide in input. I will also post good deals when they arrive [I've just found $30 a yard facile and will post a link shortly]

Hope this helps, Josh

Green mist would look cool with them.

atlantis, flash red, rose quartz, midnight - those colors are the best IMO - sturdy, bright, and perfect thickness and plyability.

you're gonna enjoy stitching a lot more once u get some facile

edit: i think it's about the same deal, there are more color options w/ 58" but the oranges in 58" are too stiff and thick, as well as purple shadow, and soft ivy - if u're getting a brown, get the darker one, that color plays really well and it can take a decent beating while still being a good thickness

Lmao, I thought this would be good for the kicking circle because it was just me deciding what to buy and altogether a silly thread :-)
But it would be very cool if this turned into a "Which Facile is best for footbag" thread. The Rayes have really experimented [with fabric ;-)] and know which facile's are good & which are shitty. It could really help people pick 'em out and save $.

So, if you folks want to continue the thread as such....[as the Spider-friends say...] GO FOR IT!

ps. I think I'll kick it with Flash Red, Atlantis, and Marmalade...And maybe rhapsody if someone tells me it's good]

Cinnomon is crap. Too thick... Maybe if I wanted to make a heavy parka I'd use that stuff.

Hahaha

Keep it real!

White petal is my current fave right now, perfect softness, plyability, and plays well as soon as you're done. Blue Mist, I believe it's called is even more plyable, softer, and plays right away as well. Stay the heck away from bright orange. I think it's called Mandarin. That stuff is super soft, but it tears like crazy. I have another green one that's awesome, I think it's sea-green, similar properties of the blue mist and white petal. A lot of the other colors are more stiff, and will require break-in before play. But as Raye was sayin, some are inusable.

The trial-and-error of ordering online does suck, cuz you have to buy certain colors to see if they're any good. I happen to be fortunate to have an awesome fabric store near me that sells facile in a ton of colors, but I have to buy a quarter yard, and it's more expensive than online. Still, I get to feel the fabric and decide right there which one will be best for stitching, which rocks.

i've heard black noir is no good. Midnight is a good "black," it's kind of blue, so it won't detract from or dull the colors it's placed around.

I can attest to blue hawaii, though I've had trouble with Flash Red being too thick.

yeah that's right I did say that
where's the confusion? was it in the word "think?" perhaps it was "might?" I suppose the use word might was bad English on my behalf, seeing as how I should have said may instead of might.

Let me know what you think of these colors as quick as you can:
#6544 Dried Rose,
#4434 Willow,
#5698 Storm,
#6551 Tearose,
#4449 Brass,
#7144 Navy

I've found a pretty damned good deal on em, so let me know if they're shred worthy
