Are vans sufficient shoes?

Yo, I'm a noob, and im just wondering if vans are good enough to hack with. Also I wanna buy a hack and ive seen recommendations on here for Mr. Sandbag, but others have told me they break in 2 weeks. Is this true? Thanks for the help.

Vans have good surfaces, but are way too heavy for footbagging.

Mr.snadbags are very good begginners bags and they only break fast if you scrape them off floor. They shoiuld not be mistreated.

Treat your bag well and it will last a long time.

You said break-in. There, arguably, is no break-in time for a Mr. Sandbag. They are shreddable right out of the padded envelope.

You said break. There's a huge difference between break-in and breaking fast. However, what you said is definitely true; care should always be exercised when dealing with a quality footbag. Mr. Sandbags lose quite a bit of sand over time even when they are handled very gently..it's a good thing they're so cheap to replace

Ah thanks for the help. Yeah ill make sure i dont scrape it, ill just have to spend the extra two seconds to bend down and pick it up with my hand. As for shoes what type should would acceptable? And sorry about not putting in my name before, I did not read the rules, my mistake.

If you're going to nit-pick, at least be right when you do it. Daniels interpretation of the sentance is more valid than yours Davey. If smokefree meant break-in, there should have been a second "in" before the 2.

ie "they break in in 2 weeks".

edit: To make this a somewhat useful post and not just an asshole grammatical correction - the standard answer for "what kind of shoes should I use" is the Adidas Rod Laver, although many perfer some sort of climacool or ct-520s or g-units. Either search for those on the forum and see what people have to say about them, or save yourself the effort and play in Lavers.

I used the same Mr. Sandbag for like 5 months and it was still fine when I switched to another. The only reason I switched is after that much time they have lost some of the sand, and don't weight very much. But still-- they're very cheap and very good, so definately get one!

And Rod Lavers are the quintessential footbag shoe, although a lot of people use climacools, ct520's, or g-units instead (as others have already noted).

That post says all there is to say about shoes (go lavers!), but as far as bags go, getting a Mr.Sandbag to learn with is my recommendation. They are a little bigger and floppier than most 32-panel bags, which most more advanced freestylers use. I like to practice with them because their larger size forces you to do moves more cleanly, then you can more easily handle something smaller.
It's like guitar, I recommend starting on acoustic, cause then when you go to electric it will be easier on your fingers!
32-panels are available in many places, and modified hosts a large number of accomplished bag stitchers; most likely there is someone in your area. Which reminds me... find someone way better than you to learn from! <--- INVALUABLE!
Anyway these are my opinions, hope they help!
