How long do you expect a 32panel facile bag to last?

A friend of mine has had his Toby bag for about 6 months now, and he is appauled that it is starting to get holes. I have had a Toby bag for about the same time, and I have been shocked that it has taken untill now to start getting holes.

So how long do you expect a 32panel facile footbag from any decent stitcher to go before it gets holes? I have heard of bags that get holes in 1 day of playing, but for me I think 6 months is a pretty good time, I recall Richard Abshire saying his bags last him about 6 months too.

Note: this is considering that the bag is washed regularly (whenever it gets dirty), cared for adequitly (not allowed to be chicken scraped/toe rolled), and is played with an hour or 2 a day average.

I wash my bags every other or every third session b/c they get way too dirty, and less stallable. I picked under 6 moths, but I agree that the under 4 moths would be better...
It also depends on if you count break in time, becuae then yes, 6 moths is about right for me. After my bags reach thier prime, I can only shred with them for about another 2 months before they are dead and have so many patches you can hardly tell what color they are. My break down for my bags are:
1 month of them being way too new to paly with
1 mnth of warm up shred
1 month of good/great shred
2 months of prime shred
1 month of trying to keep them alive
give it a final washing, retire bag, put it on my footbag shelf and let it collect dust.

I've never played a bag into a holy state, except for my own micro-suede bags(less durable.) I busted a stitch in my footfighter , and lost my abshire(which was too bad, because it was finaly getting pretty sweet.)

i've had my footfighter for...almost exactly 3 months now, and it doesnt have a single hole yet, despite my best efforts. i have dropped it numerous times in a clorinated pool, played with it outside many many times, played in train stations, and washed it a couple dozen times.

I went 6 months. My first pro bag was an o'wheel and it did really well. It started getting holes maybe a little after 6 months, but lasted a full year before I had to retire it. Having to retire it anything from 6 months-1 year sounds right to me. Although I didn't play as much in those days...

One of my 3 abshires is starting to get holes after having it over a year, and my Maki bag had gotten holes around a month or more from purchase since the Rochester Jam. Usually though, I would expect bags to last around 6 months or so.

Ok so most people expect an average bag to last around 6 months it seems.

BUT, abshire bags seem to have a much higher life expectancy, people are saying their abshires last over a year easily? I have heard of some going 1.5 years with no holes!

Ok, so an abshire takes between 2 and 10 times longer to break in than a 'normal' 32panel bag, but it lasts 2 or 3 times longer, why is this?

Most of the time the color combo dictates the time it will take to breakin. I use different stitching techniques to extend or shorten the life depending on the performance I want out of the bag. I now sell bags with strong color combos and weaker color combos for longer life or a quicker breakin. More choices help players find what they really want and need. Hope this helps, Richard

Doesn't the filler also come as a factor too? Small stainless steel shot and plastic pellets don't harm the bag inside out like most other filler types like copper BBs would I assume.

how would copper bb's harm the bag from inside out??????? there round, so they shouldn't do much, if any harm to the inside of a bag.

Copper BBs sometimes have rough/sharp areas on them, which can scrape at the fabric randomly when breaking in a bag. Stainless steel shot, which ranges commonly in smaller sizes, don't really have the surface area like Copper BBs to cause much friction against facile.

Under those considerations I would say 2-3 months before it gets holes. Back in the day, playing 2 times a week, ranging from 2-5 hours each session and washing it maybe once or twice when it got really crusty I think my bags averaged 5 months before they got holes. With patching and refilling, the bag would last about a year before finally retiring it.
