footbag success is not measured in days
it is measured in sweat.

[rant]yeah. This little poser ( I dont think im excellent either mind you, but this kid does WHATEVER I do because he thinks its "cool") In my school. Bought himself about six mr.sandbags and footbag shoes because he says he likes to footbag. Also, because I skate, he all of a sudden pretends to skate, and when I started to customize and use jumpballs (dont ask), he all of a sudden got into the same thing. its SO annoying.Anyway, all he does is kick and play hacking circle games, and he insists they are better for that....whatever.[/rant]

You dont need great shoes if your not freestyling. Just take a day off

ugh. drama.

blazingflurry - you're the type of person i cannot stand in life. be yourself. be original. do what you like. and if you think you are playing footbag - think again.

hakker - i hate to say this but you arent much better - calling him out in public like that is kind of a low blow. BUT i agree completely with you this guy sounds like a poser - believe me I know the type. but maybe check how personal you make these kind of posts in the future.

blazingflurry, sorry for the rude welcoming you got here.

I find that when I'm not making progress in one area I either need to take a break, like some people have already suggested, or that I should be trying to work on a completely different component. If, as was suggested, you're having trouble with your kicks, maybe you should work on toe delays and some of the 'basic' tricks. Flipsider has a great video selection that can give you a chance to watch others hit those tricks, and footbag.org has a great move list under freestyle for people that are starting out.

I would recomend you be able to hit around 10 toe stalls before you start trying those tricks just to help cut down on the frustration that you will probably feel when you start out, but good luck. I hope that you find something that you can work on and have fun with the next time you start having an off day.

Lol you sure fooled me, I thought you were talking about "blazingflurry". Anyway, your 'poser' kid sounds like he would really get into footbag if you gave him a chance, why not teach him freestyle? You get a shred partner and he doesn't have to pose anymore.

I tried it and it wont work. He keeps saying " Why cant I just kick it???"

So I guess he's destined to be no more than your average circle kicker.

And trust me, his obsession will die down and hell probably forget about footbag in a few weeks.

The root of footbag comes from regular kicks, and there will be times when you don't have the energy nor concentration to do any tricks or long strings. Take the day off, or just practice schooling your tricks. There's no rush at all! Take it easy, and eventually the focus and inspiration for advancement will be there.

Seriously, it's not such a big deal, for both you blazingflurry and your annoying friend Hakker.

Some days you'll just suck no matter what you do. However, some days I'll start out and be kicking horribly, but after about a half-hour I'll start doing really well, and I'll learn a lot about my game from that sort of day. It's hard to tell the difference between those, but I guess the root of it all goes down to this: decide at that time if you value having fun more than the improvement that you might get from continuing. There's no point in sucking and hating footbag as a result.
