Go ahead and flame me for posting news about my own company, but this is big news. Dell is the largest computer manufacturer in the world and they have always been Intel-only. They are announcing today that they will use AMD Opteron for servers by the end of the year.
I've never been a big Dell fan, since they only can use Dell parts(or older ones at least)but thats cool for them, it'll deffinetly cause a nice increase in sales
Also, could this have anything to do with intel siding with mac?
Doesn't Microsoft own Apple anyway? I mean, ultimately it's all the same shit.
EDIT: I don't think it has anything to do with competing, but more that it has to do with everything eventually being amalgamated into one thing. I dunno, call me a conspiracy theorist or something, but everybody knows that Microsoft is gonna rule the universe eventually.

Dell is much much bigger than Apple at this point as far as market share. AMD put its efforts where the most growth was and that is definitely Dell. I agree that Macs are good computers and I would pick one over a Dell any day, but they're expensive and until Apple can find a way to lower their prices they're going to stay on the edge of extinction.
