[HELP!] So I flimed sideways. [NO VIDEO]

I was using the school video camera and I couldn't get far enough away to get all of my body in the shot unless I turned it sideways (It's a wide angle lens). Now I have a bunch of sideways footage on my computer.

This includes my online competition footage and other shred that I was going to make a video out of. The video is also going to be for a school project so it's very important.

I'm using Adobe Premiere 6.0

Is there any way I can flip it??

Please help!

im pretty sure windows movie maker has the ability to flip movies, if it can just edit it that way and save it as a new file?

That works, but it makes me REALLY FAT AND short!!! Crap. I guess the lessen here is:

DON'T FILM SIDEWAYS!

Using premiere you can rotate a clip using the motion attributes for that clip in the effect pane. I'm sure you can do the same in WMM.

If you do it in premiere you can make it so that the video isn't streached, however the video will only take up a small strip down the centre of the screen.

The last thing you could do is using primere crop effect and after you have rotated your clip correctly cut the bottom and top off the clip and zoom in till the cropped sectoin fills as much of the screen as possible, ofcourse you will get a pixilated video doing it this way.

So your options are look normal but have big black strips either side of your video, zoom in but have a pixilated image, or look short and fat

in premiere rotate the footage (in the effect menus) then to make you look normal again, change the pixcel aspect ratio... i don't know to what number exactly - i would assume you must divide one by the current ratio (1,067 ?, 1, 4...?) whatever it might be at the moment...

That's easy. Use VirtualDub and flip it. You will then have to save the new video and it will come out huge. Now use any video editing program to compress it back to small size.

You loose some quality but you flip it without streching it.

Hey Max,

I can't find rotate in the effects menu. I have horizontal and vertical flip, but no rotate.

Also, using the motion effect I can't get it to not continue moving. It won't just stay up and down.

Any help?

my pemiere screws with me at the moment, so all i can tell you is what i remember from my head... in the effect menu, there are several folders with effects, i am very sure that there is one effect that lets you transform the picture - should be called something like "distort" or "transform". this effect will have several options. one of them lets you rotate the picture.
possible other method:
try out to just click into the monitor window. a bounding box should appear. when you move the cursor just outside one of the corners, does a little curved arrow appear? if so hold the mouse key down and rotate the pic by moving it around. good luck!

I decided to just forget about the sideways footage. It was too much trouble. Lesson learned. lol

I refilmed my competition clips and a bunch of stuff for my video project. That leads me to a new question:

Does anyone have suggestions for using Adobe Premiere? What kinda effects work good? How do I sync my shred to the music? Should I just read the "good practice" thread?
