You still need good shoes. It's like racquetball, but with your hands. Prisoners play it a lot.

yeah but they could use indoor soccer shoes, or tennis shoes, or WHATEVER, I'm just saying its odd that they have a specific shoe for it and foobag doesnt (yet). although...handball dates back to like 1915 or something, still....

Footbag isn't near popular enough to have a shoe yet.

For handball, you need very sturdy shoes. You have to cut a lot, and I've actually fallen over because I tripped on my sole after part of it ripped off.

you have to cut alot in soccer and tennis and alot of other sports, and it sounds like you tripped cause your shoe was damaged.

just an observation......oh and prisoners get handball shoes?

Soccer shoes need to have good kicking surfaces and tennis is played on a different material than indoor sports. Obviously hand ball has a big enough market for many shoe models, the money attracts the companies.

Of course there are special handball shoes, there is a large market for them over here in Europe. There are something like 20 countries that have big clubs, that play champions league every year. Handball is more popular in smaller cities usualy ones without a football club and lots of youngsters play it in gym classes. It is really popular in Northern Africa (Egypt, Libya, Algier, Tunis) I think a year or two ago, there was a record attendance around 50.000 spectators in Germany. It was played at the Auf Schalke Arena in Gelsenkirchen (Germans correct me if I'm wrong) So you see, it's one more fairly large sport you people in USA don't know enough about.

My dad still plays Handball.

The shoes for it are cool, they have this really gummy bottom surface, that get shredded if you use them on other surfaces.

note: the gummy bottom may have been phased out 20 years ago.

Yeah, the shoes that broke on me were pretty old, and no, prisoners don't get handball shoes.

Like people said before, handball has a much larger market than you'd think.
