"Free" ultrasuede light

Well I have a job that requires a lot of sitting around and doing nothing (yeah its hard), so i have decided to start doing a little stitching. I went to a fabric store near me and they didnt have ultrasuede light. So i googled it and found a site called DenverFabrics.com I was gonna order some fabric then i saw a little thing about swatches on the screen. You can order 3"x4" swatches for a dollar each, and then they send you a coupon for the same amount through email. I ordered 10 bucks worth of fabric and im hoping i can use that amount of coupon to keep getting free swatches, well find out. Anyway thought id share the info, hope no one else has posted this (i searched, but still havnt been here for a while).

Although I understand people wanting to get free facile swatches to test out the properties of a particular colour, I don't like the idea of ONLY getting free swatches as your means of getting facile. The idea of swatches is a test and beyond testing, you're just abusing the system.

I especially dislike it when stitchers get free swatches to make footbags and then sells their footbags. The cost of materials are so negligible for a footbag. Selling 3 footbags at $20 each will cover the cost of all your materials usually and you can still make many more footbags beyond the 3.

1/8 yard doesn't cost all that much guys. Most of you even get the $2 shipping rate for the continental US from fields.

If enough people keep asking for free swatches, they won't even offer the free swatches anymore for people who are actually wanting to test.

Dont get me wrong, im not trying to beat or abuse the system. I was simply saying for those who are just starting to stitch and dont want to buy a lot of material. This is a much better alternative then using a t-shirt.

I like the idea personally, i think it gives the people that are starting to stitch a good idea base to start apon ( i mean its ALOT better than using an old t-shirt), I am however Against abusing the system and getting alot of free swatches. . . . Im getting some samples, but only to use them as samples. If i like the colors I am sampling ill probably by a 1/2 yard of fabric from them

It's not "FREE" as such.... if you buy 5 swatches you get a cupon for another free 5 swatches, when you've used that you then have to pay for more, then you get another cupon

also the swatchs are only big enough to either fit one set of pent minis on or one set of hex minis on (thats if you making 32's)

Its still good for testing, and if you just wanna make bags for fun/friends but if you serious i've found fieldfabrics.com is still the best place

hell yeah you can use anything man lol I know stichers who started with old socks and t-shirts........... i used old jeans filled with mungbeans for my first 4 panel then moved to ultrasuede, then ultrasuede light

You don't need to buy a yard, its 5 bucks an 1/8... I just ordered 5x1/8's for like $30 and I'll get shead loads of sacks out of that, but your best bet is to start with old material, then if you wanted you could buy a 32 panel pack (kingstonfootbag.com does a good one) then if you still like it buy the material

I've only had one batch of sample swatches I got from Toray, but never looked back. Sure, I use colors like Amatista to put on my footbags (and maybe sell the bag with that material), but I wholeheartedly want to purchase that color somewhere sometime. It's the best purple I have, and I only have a limited quantity of it.

I now buy my facile from field fabrics with full dedication. If there are other online sites I can buy more facile colors, I would really appreciate it to know about that site and doing business with them.

I'm sure there's a store in NYC that sells facile and the color I want, but I doubt they do retail. Just sales in large quantities. I kind of lost the name card I got from my Toray samples for the most local store that sells facile.

i also sell 32 panel kits. includes everything you will need (except string/floss) including facile (ultrasuede light)
