I recently purchased some of Kolo sports Footfighters New Generation bags and they are really good a little smaller than usual but the filler makes the bag fall dead while having almost the same consistency of a pellet filled bag(I.E. it lays flat like a sand bag, but doesn't fall fast like sand bag and kicks like broken in pellet filled bag).
here is the form post for his sales

Mosher's bags are absolutely world class.
Mosher. So hot right now. Mosher.
I make decent ones. if you like pretty colors and weird patterns and heavy, stally bags, then you will probably like mine.
There are SO many good stitchers out there. You should try a few different ones.

I like my bags tons. I'm really happy with how they turn out, and I've had a lot of good reviews from top stitchers about my bags. I think I will only seriously play with my own bags, and play with other people's bags when the situation seems fit for it (like heavy and stally bags for some easy feel and playing).
I think my dream goal is to see Lonn Irish (or whatever her last name is now, I have no clue
) and present to her my stitching progress.
Out of other stitchers, I REALLY enjoy Tom, Peng, Matt and Mirken bags.

The best bags I have ever owned have been:
Ilja Mitrofanov
Jeremy Mirken.
The best bags I have played with also include Felix Zenger, Lonn Irish, and Carol Wedemeyer bags.
Mosher, Cross, and Lew bags... well, I'll give you my review of them after I receive some as prizes for the Cornell Juggling Festival.

Bascially there is no best bag, as this topic is often coming up. Really its all what you like weight, stiching, gather, etc.
As you can see a lot of people had different ideals of what was the best. For my I think its a Footfighter New Gen. But someone else would say otherwise.
As for beginner bags I'd have to say a mr.sandbag from freedomfootbag.com are really a nice deal if you just want to get started.
Hope you find what bag you like!
Peace,
