Nice Work Misrepresenting us to the Edmonton Journal

Post by Eric Chang »

http://www.canada.com/edmontonjournal/n ... 84&k=31005

This is what I was talking about, footbaggers flaming this guy. How hard would it have been just to give an honest view point rather than flame the guy.

What did he put? No he didn't put steves or O'Wheels article.

he put the dipshits who had to flame him.

Nice work guys really nice work really making us like level headed people. But then again, what else could we expect from people like you.

Peace

it might just be me but it doesn't look like the guy is hating on us anymore. it seems that hes taken what we said(for the most part) and realized that he was wrong in what he said about both rory and footbag. sure flaming probly wasnt the best thing to do but what would you expect when a group of people that are as passionate about something as the footbag community has what they love totally bashed in print for all to see.

I'm very very very passionate about the sport of Footbag, but I gave him a constructive side of my viewpoint.

Read the article, he only shows the idiots who flamed him, thus making look like we forced him into this. But I am glad he did correct the situation.

We have to face that not everyone is going to like it, and to the people who flamed him.

Shoving the sport of Footbag down everyone's throat isn't going to help our cause. its ok to inform but not ok to take a Footbag and attack them with it saying " NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU SMITHER FUCK ITS FOOTBAG NOT HACKYSACK YOU'RE SO STUPID AND LAME BLAH BLAH BLAH" -insert more elitist attitudes-

Mike is right. the guy stepped up and admitted he was wrong, which is pretty brave. He only quoted some of the emails because they were pretty funny. from what he writes he appears to have learned a lot, so he obviously received a lot of informative emails as well.

try reading the whole article and realize that he's being nice, not calling "us" stupid for flaming him. you have absolutely nothing to be bitching about. take it as a blessing.

exactly i really didnt see anything wrong with what the guy wrote! It was actually decently cool of him to step up and say that he was wrong! and to point how cool of a guy rory is! there was no "ass" making of anyone IMO

Meh I shouldn't hold everyone to such mature standards I guess.

its a victory for the footbag community, but I predicted there were going to be flamers. So guess end-o discussion.

Eric, the writer totally got the point, you are the one that clearly didn't.

That article was actually really respectful and humble, it made me feel good inside.

He represented us well and appologized for underestimating us.

The footbaggers that flamed were out of line, but he took those with a grain of salt, as he should have.

No problem, I was being a dick about it and should have looked on the brighter side of things :D

I'm sort of a pessimist at times :(

It seems for the most part he brings up the emails who flamed him. not every email he received could have been flaming like that, so he could have at least brought up the rest of us... :(

This guy tries to write with humor. The informative e-mails he recieved are not humorous. However, he didn't mention some of the things he learned from the more informative letters. I think it was a good article.

All in all i think it was a good turn out. Foot bag community-1 Edmonton-0....The guy went and took the time to actually learn about our sport, while also writing an article that somewhat promotes it. He admitted he regretted saying any of the blashphemous things he said and apologized sincerely...really what more can we ask for? Sure some people flamed him. Yes it was wrong. But there are always going to be people who can't go about difficult situations in a responsible, constructive manner. In addition to them though, there were many of us who sent very informative letters arguing our side while being completely respectful at the same time. In conclusion...footbag rules!

For future reference:

1) flaming the flamers
2) flaming the people who flamed the flamers for flaming them.
3) flaming people in categorgy #2 above ^^^

I think it would be good to email the guy props for the new article. I'm sure he'd appreciate it. 'Journalists' get plenty of mail when people disagree with them, I imagine he'd appreciate some props for doing the right thing for a change. Just a thought.
