so i modded the shoes like normal: toe and inside. i was carefully with the walls and left some leather of the toe where its connected with the walls, so it doesnt become so loose and too wide open. just like ken(?) modded the green gunits lately. i like them so far, but im wondering to mod off the outside, too. not that i use the outside often, it would only be for a better break-in and second sock feeling, as well as little weight loose. do you suggest this? i sometimes see it modded, and sometimes not. i did it with my mesh and i found it wonderful, but i didnt like it that much on the gunits, as it gave a different clipper feeling and less stability, and since the leather laver is somewhat like the gunit concerning mods, im not sure doing this.
and, do you make a brocka or do you think shoes can fall apart?
Leather Laver - Outside mod, pros and cons
I only play in non-mesh lavers, I used to have the leather ones (black) but I had to switch because they don't make them anymore. I now use the wierd new ones, and mod off all of the leather/new crap on the outside. The only part I leave un-modded are the backs and the soles of the shoe. I've found that the outside of my clipper doesn't hit the ground all that much though, so if you do hit the ground, then it certainly would be a problem.

Don't mod the outside surface! Holy shit, never do that! I just got a new pair of G6s and I've pretty much ruined them. I wasn't paying much attention while modding and when I tried to go play I realized I accidentally modded the outsides off.
You feel like your slipping out of the shoe constantly. Even if you lace them tight, you can still slip your foot out. So far, I've rolled my ankle once in them and have come close on several different occasions. It serves no purpose and makes the shoe MUCH weaker in my opinion.
Also, I modded the outsides off on a pair of leather lavers a while back (on purpose) I rolled my ankle while trying to stop from a short run. I just BUSTED through the outside when I tried to stop because the material was weak without the leather outside supporting it.
Don't do it. You WILL regret it.

I've takin the inside, toe, and outside panels off of my leather lavers, and I don't think it's causing any problems. I've had them for about a year and a half and the only damage is a few holes started showing up on the toe box after apx 1yr and 3 months. My outsides are a little fuzzy from touching the ground on clippers, but no tears or fraying. I've played alot on concrete too. One thing I have mention is that I did not boil my shoes like some people recommend (to losen the glue), I have pretty sweaty feet (I know it's gross) and after 2 months I just razor bladed the leather so that 1-3mm of leather was left next to the sems. I think that if your shoes are falling apart like that than maybe (if you boiled them) that made them weaker. BTW I have the all white with blue highlights lavers. My wife had the brown ones and those tore up quick (they were leather too), and we boiled those. But now she's got the mesh ones and we didn't do any mods except cuting the toe box to open up more, and we didn't take any panels from those. That pair has been good for apx 1yr. Hope my experiance helps you GL.

I have about 12(9 of them modded and never worn) pairs of lavers and most of them are leather. The different sizes and colors of the leather laver determine the material under.
I have a pair of size 11.5 white/blue leather lavers and my friend has a size 9.5 white/blue leather lavers and the material under the leather is different between both of them. The 9.5s are thicker and stronger and the 11.5s are thinner and more flexible.ALSO modding off the outside depends what kind of material is under the leather and how much stress you put on the outside when you shred. If your foot hits the ground on clippers, stop hitting your foot on the ground with clippers. Like i said, there's different canvis's on different sizes and colors of leather lavers.
