WORLD HACKY CHAMPS - a NZ hacky comp...

Post by BalinorNZ »

Ok, I have just been notified by one of the guys from a flavoured milk company in New Zealand that they are running a "WORLD HACKY CHAMPS" which is really a new zealand hacky sack competition...

They are basicly running head to head comps with teams of 2 doing 5 min routines of hacky moves. The routines are judges on crowd responce, player enjoyment and some technical merit... but these guys list toe delay and clipper kick as advanced moves on thier 'how to play' page...

Here is the webpage:
http://www.worldhackychamps.co.nz/upandgo.html

Me and Toby are planning to enter the Dunedin heat, atleast we can get footbag some publicity and score some $700 cellphones for winning it :), we will also get flown to auckland for the finals if we win, and if we win that we get flown to california the "home of hacky sack" lol.

Hilerious huh?

They'll smoke their own region for sure. But if Phil Morrison and Johnny Murphy enter in their region (they are the two NZ guys in BAP) they'll win the whole thing hands down.

To this contest's credit, California is close enough to the origins of footbag. It's one state south of Oregon. Heck, most people over here think New Zealand is just part of Australia.

Well good luck Toby and Nic. Enjoy the free cellphones you'll win :)

Or make footbag.org t-shirts, even if they're crappy.

I'd suggest practicing lots of hack, and not planning on just going tiltless for 5 mins... SNOOZE!!!
There are plenty of sweet hack tricks that footbaggers don't, won't or can't do. Good luck

211 points... rainbows are worth 4 :D

If you lose it will be worse than the hand-farting guy beating Jorden in that competition...

Anyone else worried that they won't view freestyle as hacky and they'll end up being disqualified or just judged really poorly? It's totally worth a shot though.

Dude you misread the website. That's for winning the online game or for winning the regional heat.

1st prize overall is a $7000 trip to California including 5 nights accommodation and $1000 spending money - nz dollars of course.

Total score. It would almost be worth paying for a trip to new zealand - first heat isn't until the 22nd of Feb. Of course you have to be a NZ resident to be able to compete, so I can't, but good luck to the NZ crew.

I was talking to the wife, she and I think that if nic pulls a phoenix out, the judges would be lost for scoreing. Besides If you hacky it for a few tricks, bust a dlo, rake, hacky some more, all out freestyle for while back to hacky....so on. The judges might consider it "your hacky style" (if there is such a thing) and give you valued points. Plus they'll absolutly suck as judges if they recognise a head stall (I see a lot of hacky players do it) as alot of points (i didn't look a the web site, so go with me on this one) and not real footbagging as alot of points, then one can only assume that any other stall is just better than a head stall, espeicaly with dexes tossed in. My point is...Mix it up, your points will be better, and give the judges room to judge fairly. Plus if they're asses then you'll get credit for doing hacky tricks. GL guys!! Oh film this event,I want to see it when yall win!! And see the look on clueless faces when hot ass footbag tricks come out!!
