[Eric Chang]

Hello folks just Chang writing up a Stanford/San Jose Shred Session blog here.

Basically I'm Eric Chang hi nice to meet you. I've been free styling seriously for under a year or so. I first came across tricks from flipsider.com and was freaked out at what all this stuff was. I soon bought my first pair of Lavers (Nov 06), and learn nothing more than clipper, atw, and flying clippers. Mind you very very sloppy form . I later moved to Cali, and began to footbag at school were I met Abrams Santana, we soon attended the Stanford Footbag Meets, and a whole new game opened up. Later on I competed in a novice section for the Santa Cruz competition, and then finally helped the IFPA with the newsletter that had come out. (THanks to those who also helped make it look nicer )

A few thing happened today that were either comical (well to us at least) or just whatever.

First we joked about Symphony which is a string of only Symposium tricks

This was the first week I had a chance to footbag with Ben since he came back from down under, it was fun to pester him about those Whirlygigs and Flurries that I've wanted to see!

Later on Steve and Chase started to play a game of moving Four Square. Basically there are only three players, and one empty square. You're allowed to move to whatever square you want, and if the person kicks it into the empty square they're out (unless they save it). Really it was confusing but they seemed to have a lot of fun with it, and moving Two Square seemed to have worked out better than moving Four Square.

Managed to take a few pictures with my 35mm camera, and then came up with a cool shirt concept! Keep posted!

So thats what happened today mostly!

That moving 4-Square sounds fun. I'm glad you finally started a blog. You should still come to SC for a stitching and old footbag video day/night sometime.

I didn't know ben could hit whirlygig, that's awesome. That 4 square game sounds ridiculous. It'll be cool come summer when I'll be able to kick at Stanford regularly again.

Well, Ben can't hit Whirlygig but I'm pushing him too. But he's going back to basics for a bit since he's not happy with his left clipper.

Oh yes another note Babrams Santana managed to learn Quantum sets, as for the flipside I do not know. But I am pretty sure he can do it. And another another note, Babrams managed to hit Atom smasher on both sides within a few tries. This guy is learning way too fast.

Sadly we miss Dustin and Dat at the Stanford Footbag Club Meets. anyone nearby is INVITED!!!

Well its been a while so let me try to update.

Peter is progressing really fast, his pixies and duckings are improved by far. Not if he just has to work on that flipside clipper a tad bit more and he's probably better than me (don't tell him that though).

and Jeff is moving really fast, and just needs to stick to ze basics. So he doesn't end up all messed up like me. His brother Max recently started to attend and such, and just needs to get those Footbag movements down .

Abram(s) H. Santana continues to push through faster than I can catch up, already he's almost hitting blurriest, barfly, barrage, PS Whirls and a truckload of other tricks. (Cleanly may I add). About 3-4 weeks I think he finally hit "Rubberman", now if only I could break his legs. (SO I can catch up)

As for myself, if you saw me 2-3 months ago, you probably wouldn't notice anything different. I really don't think I improved at all which is really starting to piss me off as my trick category is the same. Not to mention I'm getting bored of basically doing every trick in every combo I can think of LAME!

Anyways sorry I didn't make it to the last Stanford meet! My right knee was really messed up and it still is since I tried to work those legovers.

Also note, the new President of the Stanford Footbag club and I, are going to try to get another Stanford Competition going (TRYING). If anyone has any tips or whatevers feel free to yell at me

Steve Goldberg is ever so unstoppable in 2 square, but doesn't mean we don't try to stop him and such.

It was a good time, and nice to see the group from Santa Cruz. Well a quick run down from what I can remeber.

Mirken FOR THE WIN! with some nasty trick attempts and strings, that really inspired me again.

But throughout the day everyone hit something nice or new. Including my first PS Mirage (bout friggin time). Abrams I believe did something that he almost never hit (again).

there were a lot of things going on during the day. In one room there was a large shred circle, and then there was four square outside! Afterwards a few of us settled for some pool, and others helped Steve make that good pizza! Then we ate at the diner table that I think Steve has never actually used It was like we were one big Footbag family !


Of course Steve went the day undefeated and nearly unstoppable, as for me I was suprised I played well with a bad foot. Well then again it did hurt when I woke up in the morning. Stupid ya i know, but how could I resist!!!!!!

Hey Eric, today was pretty good, not many people showed up though. In fact, it was just Joe, Max, Jeff, Alex (who's paradons are enjoyable), me and of course Steve. Mudd hit some nice sick ones, sole set ss pickup, sidewalk, pdox illusion, and dyno. He surely beat me, I hit far guay (or faraguay as we like to call it), 2atw, and tripwalk (1st time).

Other than that, we just shredded a little, joked around and enjoyed the weather. Sadly, we had to play on the slippery area where we play when it rains due to the use of our normal spot. Steve one a number of 2 and 4 square games. Woo hoo.

Yo thanks Peter for updating, I've been getting lazy with the Stanford Session blogs .

Nice to see you guys moving along with footbag at a really friggin fast pace! Not to mention all of you dudes worked a good amount of your Fundamentals! So you don't end up like me!!

Anyways I've been working on my legovers, and flipside mirages etc, and finally hit a flip symp. mirage. That DATW stuff still weird for me, along with those stepping sets (frustrating no?)

Well I'm going to clear Sunday and Monday for work to come down to steve's if I can. Problem is gas money, and been disputing over transaction with the bank. But I'll get Babrams to come up there.

sorry i didn't make it today, i couldn't find a ride (cough chang cough). I'll be there Sunday for sure though. I've met Ryan once but never had the honor to see him freestyle. Nice work today, you guys are starting to get the hang of things it seems. Jeff, i want to see those atomic sets! haha.

First off was the Ryan coming to visit Steve Goldberg, always a plus to freestyling. I must say that air was rare, most of us would stop and just be in awe of such a good freestyler. There were two especially long strings that really got us going.

Then of course for Steve's sake there was the 2 Square where we almost thought Steve lost. 2-1 steve. The first round ryan won, second to steve 11-5? Then the last round was a nail biter I believe 11-9. Very fun to watch and more often than not we tried to watch longer than we did Shred.

Of course we were all inspired, and I finally managed to land Double Leg Over. A big plus to Alec(x?), Peter, and Jeff for their hardwork and vast improvement! They all managed to impress Abram(s) and I on how well they've come along in such short time! Not to mention the advanced trick they're learning and still trying to get all that form stuff down.

We're making plans for Santa Cruz!!!! Get ready cause we're ready to show what real Shredders are (joking .

Hey,

Just wanted to give an update on what the Stanford Footbag Club has been up to.

On saturday Me, Mudd, Peter and Steve G went down to the Santa Cruz Net Tourney. It was a lot of fun although Abram and Eric were no shows(wut happened guys?). We had some good shred all day and were greeted by Emily, Dustin, and Brian. Fletcher was also present, but due to his injury was not able to shred with us

Me and Peter were trying out net footbag (pretty difficult), with the help of Steve(who seems to know everything about everything). Overall, the trip down south was a blast and it was great to see everyone again. Maybe the some of the Santa Cruz guys could pay a visit in the near future
