February Shred- Raleigh, NC.

Post by Pyroman924 »

Hey guys. This is my second video. My last video was in January so this will be a nice measure of my progress in roughly a month. Here's last months for comparison:
http://fizzied.phasing.org/JanuaryShred.wmv

As for my new one, I tried to get some decent strings in, but didn't have too much luck but I think I got enough to satisfy myself for a while. I'm almost 100% positive the second Dexterity in the Double ATW is "The" too.
As for criticism, I don't care too much about the editting. I had a sweet new program but couldn't figure it out in time so I just threw this together. But if you want to comment on it, feel free. Hope you like it!

P.S.- HUGE thanks to IronClad for uploading this for me. Fizzied was being weird.

Hey, nice vid alan

You seem lot more bothsided than on your first video. That's a really good thing. I would say work on string length, and always go for the longer string you can ( especially while practicing ). Try to add more diversity in your strings too.

Few things I noticed :

Your illusion seem okay to me, just keep at it and you'll get it. For me illusion are just like legover but more leggy. Maybe raise a bit less your knee for dexing. Set close to your body too.

For spinning try to spin sooner it will help you spot the bag faster.

Props on ducking whirl, it's a hard trick. Try to duck closer to your neck.

Great progress since your last video!

good video i liked it :D

nice to see you hit whirl bsos, that was neat, and i liked most of your tilt runs they look really controlled :D

nice refraction, that was really smooth looking :)

things i noticed:
on your illusions you dont have to much of a magic hop, but i think if you worked on it that you could have it bs in no time, you were really close 90% of the time, and the dexes seemed pretty clean

props on ducking whirl! the whirl was a little thin, but i think with work that you could hit it more clean.

Nice video i enjoyed it :P

Sick stuff dude. That whirl bsos will get you everywhere in life

Yeah, the ducking whirl was exciting, but the dex wasn't there. This happens a lot with whirl ending moves, until you dial those moves. Just keep at em til the dex is fast and clean at the end. Watching yourself on vid is an excellent way to catch dexes.

Your strings could be lengthened by drilling. Try to work on a few different tiltless drills every day for 5-10 min each. (A personal fave of mine is ss pickup>far clipper>rpt) For illusions, just really focus on that dex by itself. Once you get it fast enough, throw that toe under for the catch.

Your progress is great! You haven't been playin that long, and you already have some really sick concepts down, spinning looked super smooth. Though, I was surprised to see you playing without a chainmail bag :P

Cool. When I first started, I did "drifters" that way until someone told me that I was doing a low dada curve. I had almost the same move selection as you back in the day.

You will be great someday if you keep practicing. :D

Thatnks for all of the tips and feedback guys! I appreciate it. :D I'll definitely be drilling just about everything I can hit, and longer strings are one of my top goals right now. I'm also going to start on sets in the next month probably. So my next video should have some good stuff in it. :)

P.S- I'll get some chainmaille bag footage soon and post it up.

Alan,
I am really impressed with all the bs dynos and far dyno
I cant even imagine how y9ou will be playig a year from now. This is how it is with the illusion. There are several different ways to do it. When you do your leg overs you do it in the style where you set, wait for the bag to peak, and then dex. The same goes your toe pick ups, and there is nothing wrong with that. This style, set then dex can be applied to illusions as well as the leg over style with the "magic hop" as zeb calls it. Another style is to get it way up under your knee, either up or down time+there is leggy atomic. Youve got a good handle on things, now its just a matter of dialing.

A lot of progress since January. I am impressed. As for illusions, I would say you are on the right track. Take a look at some video from various players and compare their illusions. Vasek does illusion a bit more than most players, but most often in the form of blizzard (blurry illusions), or you can see some of my latest videos as I do illusion a lot and people say mine or ok.

Peace.

Thanks Mike and Ben! I appreciate the feedback. :D I actually hit quite a few Strong Illusions today some mid-string even. I'm still tweaking them though and I have to hit Flip still.
Unfortunately though that will have to wait for a bit. I was injured today afterschool. The full story is in my Footblog. I swear. I really hate certain people sometimes...

Thank you for taking the time to post feedback though. :D

Penske also does quite a few blizzards in his new video, I think. Maybe he doesn't and they just stand out to me.

Whatev, homes.

You've improved.

Alan,
You are progressing awesomely. Props on all those whirls.

I know you are anxious to learn sets and bust bigger moves. I would say try to hold off for now. Work on long runs with all the basics (and other non basics you have) BSOS. The foundation is so important. Just remember, you definitely can't hit 20 guiltless until you can hit 20 tiltless :) It will make you more well rounded and pay off in the future.

BTW sorry to hear you are injured. Take my advice and ease back into things. I should have listened to that advice a couple times. In the long, it's what's best.

I need to check this video out before we meet up I bet, huh? You'll have to teach me some moves - I may be an old shredder but I never really learned the fundamentals. (Plus I'm still coming off an ankle injury - haven't really played since December.)

Well, I'll check it out soon.

Well, I checked it out - very cool. You clipper game advanced way past mine. I may be able to help you with some toe stuff... my illusions are probably weak now but I can probably show you some later today.
