Hi there, the director I work with has a short film in an online competition, so I thought I'd invite ye ole community to check it out. I don't want to coerse anyone to vote for us, but for your consideration "It's Not Empty Space" is the film we produced. I think it's the best of the lot, and I hope you will, too.

Ok here's my feedback. Please take it with a grain of salt. I don't want to sound overly critical, but I'm not going to hold anything back. I'm not a film expert but I'd like to think I know a thing or two about science.
The filmography, special FX whatever you want to call it were top notch. The video was sexy lookin', I can't contest that. It was very cool to watch. I liked all the stuff in the background, the aliens, the space stuff. All the special FX were fantastic. The enthusiasm in Dr. Suzuki's voice is very uplifting.
However the content of Dr. Suzuki's speech I found sort of trite and lacking a point. Don't get me wrong, I consider myself a very environmentally conscious person and I don't mean to be hating on his work. But his expertise is in Zoology (his PhD) and environmental things. He goes off talking about the structure of the universe, gravitational forces in spaces, implications to string theory stuff I really think are out of the realm of his expertise (but I could be wrong, I just took 60 seconds to google the guy). What is his point anyway? That because there is water and life on the planet even though we are just a spec of dust on a cosmic beach we should feel good about ourselves because we are somehow special? And that should spur us on to take care of the planet? That's the best I'm able to gather from what there was. I watched it twice and really don't see what point he's making. Perhaps that was part of his speech was cut off or edited out. The videos are supposed to have some sort of enivornmental message. What the message on this one? That earth is significant? If that is, I don't think it's saying anything profound or really raising consciousness. Of course the earth is important. Excuse me for being an ass here but it just seems to me like this video has some great style, but no substance IMNSHO
On cinematography, this video wins hands down. But as far as being able to convey a message about the environment or raise consciousness, I don't think it does that AT ALL. Some of the other videos do to some degree even though this one looked the most professionally made. "Higher Power" was the clear winner in my mind.

I liked the polar bear cartoon the most, but I doubt it will win because it presents a joke rather than a strong message about the environment.
I thought your friends film was the most polished with all the 3d graphics and effects. It wasn't too long or too short and David Suzuki presented an interesting perspective on... perspectives.
The vineyard documentary looked to be a decent competitor until they put on the crazy girl at the end.
