Whirling/Blazing Set
Here's a poor attempt at jobs: CLIP SET>>SAME IN [DEX]
Okay so I've hit whirling ss mirage, whirling ss clipper, whirling ss osis, whirling ss butter...you get the point.
I can't figure out how to get the set high enough to start throwing some bigger moves in there. Whenever I go for a higher set, I end up hitting my dexing leg. Any tips?

Whirling set advice
Hey,
So a lot of people have been messaging me recently about tips for the blazing set, and instead of replying individually I thought I would dump out my thoughts on the subject right here. I think I have a pretty good blazing set and can hit all the basics tricks on both sides. I will walk you through my thought process.
1) The stall. Modified clipper style is like this: bag a little farther up towards your toe than normal, you are leaning away from the bag. Clipper set really close to your support leg. Support leg is on the toes, with toes pointing away from the clipper. This is very similar to the set up for a symposium whirl, which is essentially the start of the trick.
2) The first part of the set. This trick makes use of something I talk about in a lot of my set tutorials. You are not setting the bag with your clipper, you are letting the momentum of the dex set the bag for you. If you set and dex the bag at the same time you will hit your leg because the bag will be moving too fast. So you just want to hop off the support leg cutting the whirl dex back, this hop will set the bag for you. It is exactly like an uptime symp whirl except….
3) After the hop: You want to clear the dex and throw it back into the ground as fast as you can. So you whip your leg from front to back and then the whole symp idea is over, it is now a true set. The whirl dex goes front, back, and down into the ground, the clipper foot falls down as well quite naturally.
4) Next: You pivot your hips inward, placing the bag in front of your pelvis. The trick starts leaning away and ends with the bag in front of you about waist height with you in the right spot for almost any trick. There is of course exceptions, like with whirr. Whirr you want to stay in that leaned away position for the whole time and just mute the 2nd whirl. Whirr is just whirling ss muted whirl if you think about it.
So that is basically how I think of it. Lean away, symp hop, drive the dex really fast, plant both, pivot inward. Here are some other tips that might help something click.
- The clipper stall foot gets planted before the dex is completed, so you can kind of start turning before the dex is even completed.
- Practice whirling clipper and symp whirl a lot, they are the building blocks for this trick.
- You can start by doing whirls and then just get the dex quicker and quicker till it kinda morphs into a set. Then refine.
- Watch my alpine blaze in the videos section in slow motion, it is really exaggerated because it’s ducked.
My only warning is that this shit might hurt your knees. Its really quick and it’s a really sharp pull. I think I have it painfree on one side, but my other is still a little painful (which is why I rarely blaze and if I do its kind of on one side).
Anyway, good luck. Whirling is cool and looks really sharp. It is a fresh set and can look really hot in shuffle. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.
