I pretty much had this great idea.
First of all.
I"m fucking tired of these shin splints. They are driving me crazy, I can't play footbag for longer than 10 minutes without getting really bad shin pain.
I had this great idea, to start a raw food diet, but monitor it here. With pictures of course.
As of now I'm 5'9" 205 lbs.
I think I'll try to start tomorrow.
4.5 + lbs raw fruit (the generic fruit, plus cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, etc...) raw brazil nuts, raw egg yolks, sashimi (maybe)
I'll take pictures every day too.
My goal is 140 - 150 lbs
This could be fun.

i think it would be more beneficiary to just monitor your regular diet, and cut out all the shit you shouldnt eat (potato chips, burgers, fries....).
tap your toes... and play footbag more.
^sounds like a good diet to me.
idk. your diet dosent sound really that safe. trying to lose 50 pounds of fat just by eating raw fruit dosent sound like it would work...

to me, this is a bad idea, and i think you're looking at failure for a number of reasons:
1) it sounds like you aren't serious about it: "i think i'll try tomorrow" doesn;t sound like you've really reached the action stage. maybe give your self some time and ease your self into it.
2) in this short time frame it also sounds like you haven't really done any research. seems like you have just randomly selected a diet to follow with out any knowlege or REAL information, i stress real, not some "health" magazine or random website, but information pulled from reliable sources.
3) You have a goal, and that's good! but how long are you expecting this to take? to safely lose that weight without adverse health effects you shouldn't be losing more than 2 lbs per week. Are you prepared to follow this diet of raw foods only for over a year? i think after about 2 weeks i would want something cooked.
4) Diet alone is not an effective weight management strategy, it's associated with the highest drop out rates, and if you want i can pull up the facts on this. in order to efficently lose weight you need to decrease your caloric intake and increase your activity levels. if footbag hurts, try an exercise bike or swimming, they should be pretty easy on the joints and shins, but you need to be doing more than just dieting. i suggest some sort of cardio training 3-5 times per week. start slow and slowly build up faster and harder.
5)you can still pack on weight even if you eat nothing but raw foods! it's how much food you eat, not what type of food you eat that will determine how much you gain/ lose. i'd reccomend following the food pyramid, and eating smaller portions.
losing the weight you want to lose SAFELY will take you upwards of a year. Don't be discouraged!!! this is perfectly normal, but it will require alot of work on your part.
i'll tell you now that if you start some sort of super restrictive diet, your body will start cannibalizing it's self, and it's not likely going to be alot of fat. it will be muscle. Your brain requires carbohydrates to function, and it's much easier to covert muscles into carbohydrates than it is to turn fat into carbohydrates. if you want to keep playing footbag then don't go this route.
Diets/ weight loss programs require an entire life style change, so work towards it slowly. work at changing your bad habits and don't make drastic changes (like eating nothing but raw foods) because drastic changes are generally the hardest ones to stick to long term. Wonder why kirstie alley goes from slim to obese to slim? because the fast track diets she always uses are not sustainable! make changes that will work with your life style!
since i am not yet a certified cfc, my final piece of advice is to see a registered dietician. if you are serious about it, working with a registered dietician is your best bet at being successful. should you have any trouble, they will be there to help instead of being all on your own. regardless of what you choose to do, i wish you success, and i hope you choose to do it in a safe manner!
good luck.

and just a little side note: how would us reading your blog be proof? i could claim to hit super nemisis, and say "it's true, check what i wrote in my blog" but does that really prove anything? hear where i'm coming from?jrstubs wrote:My doctor approved of it. I personally would recommend cutting the time you spend stitching greatly. No offense intended, but stitching a bag is 2-4 hours of just sitting. Almost no calories burned. Drop stitching (maybe not completely) and take up biking or swimming like Andrew said. Maybe after each lengthy aerobic workout, do 50 situps and pushups, followed by toe taps, stretches, etc.
(i have absolutely no experience in dieting/exercise programs, but i am pretty fit and all i do is shred a lot and do like 50 situps every once in a while. so you can take my advice with a grain of salt)

i agree to all of the above. you dont have to go to extremes to lose weight, you can just stop eating sodas and drinking chips (im aware of what i just said)
a footblog about a diet?? why cant you just use your normal blog? im not that interested in reading a thread about what you ate that day. i would think a diet blog would be more personal and you can just write it down, rather than taking all the time to take pictures and type it up... to me thats just some time you can spend going for a jog.
have you ever seen the futurma episode about zoidberg falling in love? well he meets this girl he wants to fuck and fry tells him to actually talk to her to get her to like him. so zoidberg asks "how was your day?" and she says "oh i woke up and had a piece of toast and went to the market to get some fish..." zoidberg turns to fry and says "see what you did! now she wont shut up!" lol.

More energy, I lost 1-3 lbs a day no matter how much I ate
I know all about balancing sugars with fats and all that other bullshit.
I also know about exercising lol. The human body was intended to walk and run.
if you already knew about all this sophisticated alternative health bullshit, then why are you dieting now instead of a year ago?
you could have already lost your 50 lbs, but instead, you quit whatever "diet" you were on, sat on your ass and thought about dieting, while gaining more weight to eventually (maybe) try and lose.
whatever. this is a complete waste of my time.

Come on guys why is everyone being so negative...
He's trying to lose weight so he can play footbag without getting shin splints/get better at footbag. He started the blog so that people could keep him honest about it and hopefully so he would have more incentive to keep going, not so people could bash him.
I agree with the people saying not to try any dangerous crash diets and its nice that the people here watch out for each other. But if a qualified doctor (obviously doctor's arn't infalible but I would expect them to know more about it then myself) says it's ok then it seems ok.
From looking it up briefly it seems fine and a good way to lose weight (with exercise) as long as you get enough of everything mainly...
"People must be aware that certain nutritional deficiencies can occur on the raw food diet, including:
* Calcium
* Iron
* B12 – The Journal of Nutrition study found that a raw food diet increased levels of homocysteine due to vitamin B-12 deficiency.
* Protein
* Calories"

im not uneducated.
and im not helping you with anything anymore. just because people disagree with what you think is a good diet, doest mean we are uneducated and that you should insult us.
if the diet worked so great before, then why are you having to diet again. and if youre so smart and have everything figured out, what do you need us for? people these days act like its saintly of someone to go on a diet... and everyone should support them. i support you losing weight, but i dont support you getting sick because of it or being a jerk to people that say something you dont like. im not going to kiss your ass because you want to diet. and im not going to be nice if you think im uneducated.

It WAS all support until you said we were all uneducated. You created it.
If you were expecting it why did you even make it?
I have an idea. You can cover up your mistakes and stupidity by pretending that this was just an experiment to show how sucky modified is! Yeah! Do that! Yeah!
