Where is the Finnish scene?

Post by david »

This fall BOTS was finally released and after that not a peep from anyone over in what used to be footbag heaven. Has anyone heard from Juho, Toni, Felix, etc? I am just baffled as to how an entire scene that used to put out videos like FDO, Late Night Jam, etc is not really talking. I would give my cat for a new Juho video.

Lemme know where these kids are and if they are still playing. Thanks.

Felix should be going to Worlds...maybe Juho.

Airinen brothers are still around.

The rest dropped off the face of the Earth. 8O

Last time I spoke to Tuukka he was about to get married (this summer?) and barely plays footbag now.

But from what I can tell, the only finish video "producers" where Jere, Tuukka, and some from Aleksi.

The first two not really playing anymore makes finish videos a rare thing..

I suggest we send someone as a spy to secretly take footage of Finland's footbag "pride"

hah, such nice topic here. Haven't really read modified for ages, just saw incredible vid from Jorden which apparently was published in Christmas calendar. So I'm 5 months late, great.

Yes, I'm getting married, which doesn't mean that I play much less. We just happen to play more net than freestyle in Jyvaskyla nowadays. I can try to film a vid of Toni and Janne P. Not sure when I have time to edit it though. Janne plays net quite a lot and has problems with his back atm so I don't know when he agrees to play freestyle.

Jere V. quit and I heard he sold his video camera or something. Juho was going to have a break in footbag this year, but I guess he changed his mind because of financial support and is going to make to worlds. Felix is a well known artist in Finland and he has a lot of gigs. I'm not sure if he shreds too often or what. Probably he is going to Worlds as well.

So actually the freestyle scene in Finland is pretty much dying. Only few new shredders and "old skoolers" are fading away. Net scene is feeling much better as many freestylers moved to the dark side and started spiking.

First, congratulations Tuuka on your coming wedding! Best wishes for your future from the Sydney Footbag crew :D

Second: Noooooooooooooooo!!! So much talent and style we might not see again!

Do you know why Jere sold his camera? i was hoping after the success of BOTS he might go on to even greater things! Has he lost interest in film altogether? I thought he was studying it...

Glad to hear Felix and Juho still representin'. Any news about Mikko?

He's studying editing, so he has outsourced filming ;)

He's studying as an exchange student in England at the moment. Last time I heard from him he was considering going to Worlds.

What Finland is missing currently is an event coordinator who would be interested in holding more events. We have tried to keep the scene up in Jyväskylä by holding events, but the freestyle scene just isn't big enough. We are not getting enough new people and the old ones are studying, getting jobs and so on. So there just isn't enough time to keep shredding as much as there used to be.

He competed at 05 Worlds with another 'excited' routine, but i think he has many other commitments now other than footbag. Seems to be the running theme.. i know all about it!
