Spinning Torque (Marius)

Post by Muffinman »

Spinning Torque (Marius)
CLIP > (BACK) SPIN [BOD] >> OP IN [PDX][DEX] > (BACK) SPIN [BOD] > OP CLIP [XBD][DEL]

Any tips on Marius?
I find the sudden change in direction really, really tough...

I haven't hit this, but something that's got me to foot it is to start the dex before you know where the bag is.

don't spin too far, point that dex knee in as much as possible to minimize the amount you've got to spin, stand up straight. picture a jason crook / nate pipenberg pdx torque. When they do it, the knee of the dex leg gets pointed way over, and they do all their spinning after the dex.

Ahh, thanks Matt, that should help.
I could picture Jason Crook's and Nathan P's pdx torques as soon as you said their names -- good stuff. I guess my problem is that I'm so used to full spinning moves and when I do pdx torque I kind of spin back the other way, waiting for the bag to peak, and THEN do the torque spin into it... (if you know what I mean...) Actually, the Jason Crook-style pdx torque may hurt my hip and knees...especially after a spin, making it super downtime... I will try and see how it is, though.

More please.

EDIT: Yes, void is MUCH easier for me too, but I guess drifters are MUCH easier than torques...

just think of it as a gyro op torque. Set it like a gyro clip. Waist height, spot fast, think fast :)

Marius was my first 6. One way to practice this is to practice paradox torque from a hand drop. If you can p torque fairly confident just downtime, then this will give you a little more edge after the spin. Oh yeah, once you spin, dont wait , attack!

I got one tip that is pretty hard to find out, but it really helps a lot. Plant your setting foot when you start to spin so that your toe and knee points to the direction you are going to spin on the Torque. It feels unnatural for normal spinning, but really helps for changing spin-direction. That way you don't need to twist nearly as much as you would if you plant support foot to point 'away' from you like most people usually plant when spinning.
I hope that's explained clear enough.
