The Return of the Modified Post Card Exchange

Post by Jeremy »

I'm sure some of you will remember the old exchange that I started back in 2004, and which lasted well for a while.

Well I'm reviving it, because it was cool.

Here's how it works.

You send me an email with "modified postcard exchange" as the subject to owheelj at footbag dot org. In the email you put your address, including the name you want the card to be sent to exactly as it should be written on the postcard.

You'll then be asked to send 2 postcards within 2 weeks to different people every round (which will be one a month probably).

If you fail to correctly send your address correctly, or if you fail to send out your postcards, you'll be banned from the competition (possibly allowed back in if you ask really nicely). If you're going to miss a round, let me know by email before it starts.

The cut off date for the first round is midday this Sunday Australian Eastern Standard Time (we're about 17 hours ahead of the US depending on which side of the country you're on). If you miss the cut off time, you can enter from the second round etc.

Bump, only a few people involved so far. I have a wall of postcards from around the world up at work, which is the envy of all my workmates and the nemesis of my enemies.

Bumpage - a few people were asking me about this, and it didn't get back off the ground last time because of too few numbers, but if people are keen let me know. It's very easy to organise.

There is no due date - if you\'ll see, the last posts in this topic were really old.

Asmus and I haven\'t decided on a cut off date, people can join up when ever they want at this stage.

I think 9 or 10, but it's a little unclear because some people have been giving their details to Asmus and some to me. Either is fine, although I wanted to reiterate that I prefer email to pm.

Ok the due date is this Sunday Australian Eastern Daylight time. I'll do it sometime that evening, so any entries received after I've started working out who gets who will be added for next round (not this round).

Erik, neither Asmus or I have received anything from you, so if you're still keen, you should email your address.

Remember that the time in Australia is GMT+11 at the moment, as opposed to the US where it's like GMT -7 (obviously different there are different time zones in both countries), so you should get in soon :)

Currently there are 15 people on board from 6 different countries.

That's Sunday the 4th Australian Eastern Daylight time (GMT+11). Sooner is better though.

Don't worry if you miss the deadline, we'll put you straight in to round 2 :)

I am sending out emails to everybody now, so I hope everybody has updated their footbag.org email addresses. If you haven't, and it turns out you don't get an email within the next hour, let me know and give me a new email address. I'm not going to pm them, because I want to keep a record of what I actually send people (in case I make an error) and 2 gb of space is a lot better than 50 messages.

All done. Too easy. Turns out my mail merge and other excel skills that I've picked up from work actually do have a practical use :D
