Saving breakables with your feet

Post by Muffinman »

I'm sure all of us have done this at least once before.
I thought it would be a neat thread idea to, like, tell stories about stuff that you've caught, or slowed the fall of thanks to your awesome footbag prowess. Maybe, like, post when you save something. That's what just gave me the idea, was I just cushioned my phone from falling a significant distance (my phone which I've cracked the screen from dropping so many times...).

I recall a thread like this a couple years ago, but I don't really know what to look up to find it.

The most significant thing that I think I've saved was a great big glass pot. It would have shattered EVERYWHERE, but I instinctively stuck out my foot to cushion its fall. Much to the pain of my foot, of course. Cursed reflexes!

sometimes when I'm walking away from the table in the art room and I see a pencil rolling off the desk or something I clipper it back up.

I've done this dozens of times with various objects, before and after footbag. Oddly enough, I've always had decent foot-eye coordination. I can't remember a specific item, but I know I've saved drinking glasses this way.

I do this all the time cause my roommates leave shit on the edge of the shelves in the fridge. I must have saved the miracle whip jar like 800 times with a quick toe stall.

Miracle Toe

I think the best thing I've ever done, which doesn't make much sense and it's hard to believe, but here goes.....one day I was grocery shopping with my roomate and I knocked over like 4-5 cans from the shelf. I caught 3-4 of them, placing them nicely on the shelf right away and stalled the last can with my foot. My roommate said he didn't really see my arms move, he just saw shit fall that never hit the ground and then I had a can on my foot  .
So that was awesome, and also before I started freestyle footbag; but I had kicking for years and had been practicing Kung Fu for like 2 years at that point.

And then the other day, my reflexes took over and my foot tried to solve the KETTLEBELL that I just dropped 8O . BAD MOVE!! Barefoot toe stalls hurt me for like 4 days. It's just getting better now :? .

Just last week I witnessed a bad car accident. A baby went flying out the window of one of the cars, and I eclipsed her to a handcatch.* 8)

Rofl these stories are awesome. I don't think I've ever saved something, but I frequently toe scrape stuff off the ground that I need to pick up and set them up to my hand.

Sometimes I force up a loogie in one of my friends houses, and spit it to the floor only to catch it at the last moment with my shoe. I know that isn't really the same as whats being talked about, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I have saved my cellphone from breaking multiple times.

It can become a bad habit though, I made the mistake of trying to toe stall a shampoo bottle and ended up with a rather painful bruise :?

Cool thread.

I was in Montreal, browsing the beer section in the grocery store when I went to grab a glass 40oz of Budweiser and it slipped from like 4 feet up! I toe stalled it and put it back to get a different one.

It would have sucked if it smashed.

I know I have stalled many other things, but can't recall what the items were.

I love when stuff like this happens. Even using hands. Like something rolling off the table, and snatching it almost b4 your brain processes it.
