ABLETON 7

Post by QuantumBalance »

MAN!

So I messed with it a long time ago, ver. 6 that is. And it didn't click. But now that I am learning it for real (v. 7) I suddenly realize how amazing it is.

Ableton 7 is the best music creation software to date. Hands down. I'm glad I'm learning it while its prime. Obviously an instrument is only as good as its musician, but ableton is just that: way more than a program, a fucking instrument. YOU CAN ACTUALLY PLAY IT! OH MY GOD

Things like auto remapping of keys on the fly. Like, 90+ percent of functions dont interrupt the flow of an active timeline. Pluggin and virtual synth support obviously. FUCKING... for a 70 megabyte download this shit will CHANGE YOUR LIFE! I could .. you know.. not tell yall because its so good.. But instead, I WILL!

It comes with its own tutorials and everything. It's so sleek and amazing. ITS SO AMAZING.

I remixed chemical brothers - believe with FELIZ NAVIDAD!

WAHHHHHHHHHHH?!?! AND IT WAS AMAZING!!!!

lol

ok im out. (amazingly)

other words to describe it:

groundbreaking
refined
elloquent
powerful
fantastic
STREAMLINED
PRACTICALLY UNNOTICABLE RESOURCE USAGE.. WHATT?T?!?! HOW DID THEY DO THIS!?????????? OMG
PIMP
LIMITLESS
FUN
DIFFICULT TO LEARN - unless you use the included tutorial then its

SO EASY! - so far

very deep tho, I'm only like.. beginning intermediate.

AIGHT IM OUT go DL IT AND TRIP OUT!

Yeah Live is the shit, I love it. I use it in ReWire mode with Reason and it's fantastic. I don't see a need to use any "high-end" DAW when everything is possible with Live anyway.

Hey Sam, did you ever try Battery? It's a VSTi Drum Machine, it's so sick it's silly.

Good to hear you're back into production, btw, you've actually inspired me years ago to take up the Synth with your work on Ripwalk.

Yeh i got this program last week, been fiddling with it the last couple of days, its awesome! I dont really need another thing to eat up my time but i want to make beats for future DVD project and its really fun and easy to get into! Been getting ALOT of loops lately too haha

It seems to have great potential if you have other hardware too, like a touch pad etc

Hey Laroche can you explain the rewire thing to me? I have Reason 4 and Ableton 7. Which one do I run first? How do I use them together? I mean not to get too detailed cuz I can look it up. But, what do you use it for?

THX and yeah its badass with a hardware controller.

PS yeah I have battery 3

Have you used Reaktor???? I havnt really but I heard its TOO good. Also there is one called like synthasia or something where you program your own synths in C! And, there is Guitar rig 3 out now!! WAAA!!

Nice. I just downloaded this. It's different, that's for sure. I'm so used to FL Studio. It will take me while to figure it all out. Thanks for sharing this Sam.

Hm, I downloaded this ages ago but like you at first, didn't use it much. Was trying to use it to DJ but not being able to save the warping on the demo version screwed me. Now I'm using Traktor :) Been meaning to have another look though, now that I've got the BCD3000...

Rewire is easy, just open Live (ReWire Master) and then open Reason (ReWire Slave).

Create an audio track, and set the input as reason. Voila it's done!

You can do it with more then just Reason, btw, so if there's other programs you like a lot like FL it will work too.

The only thing is that it's a pain in the ass is having to switch windows a lot. SO, I would only recommend doing it if you have 2 monitors.

Reiterating: Abelton is amazing.
