Check out my form

Post by kidzanshin »

Ive recently made a kind of training programme which i do as often as i can and takes about an hour. Its mainly to improve my basic skills, drilling 2 adds, pushing for longer strings, practicing 3 adds and new basic components with a few kick beaks in between to get my breath back. I then freestyle at the end trying to stick to 2 adds for as long as i can, and i keep going until i hit a string of so many contacts, upping that number with each session.

Anyway ive never filmed myself before and decided to film the whole session yesterday

watching it for the first time i realised i look a bit strange when playing and i think my form isnt quite right, i think i crunch up a bit and stall quite high off the ground

anyway here is a link to some clips from the session uploaded on my bros youtube, let me know if you have any pointers for improving my form or just comments would be hugely appreciated!!

Cheers :D

That was sweet, i was wondering what level you were at with your game. Its just about where I am.

about stalling too high off the ground...I don't think thats too high, it may be exactly where i tend to stall.. Whatever feels more comfortable with you. Try stalling at higher/lower positions to see where you like to keey your feet and then just pick a spot.

I do like your form, except for the fact that sometimes you look like your forcing your arms into positions that kinda set you off balance. Try to make them flow more naturally, you know? Arms just get in the way

I really like the spinning clipper. Your whirls where kinda hard to judge. The lighting was a bit glary there. Try to faace the light next time, rather than having it behind you.

next vid you should do a bit more freestyle, this video looked like all drills...which is fine. But variety makes a video much more interesting to watch.

Loved the video overall.

Yay ! More british footbaggers :D - dude, pls save up some money,
come to Euros in Prague and take in the crazy :P

I really like your toe tiltless - good bothsidedness, and an even rhythm .
The one run with mixed tiltless was very pleasant to watch, i especially like your far legovers.
Your trick selection is another thing that stood out to me - the tricks shown
are all very important and they are a good platform to build your game up from .
Its also kool that you dont do any trix way above your level, a thing that
most noobs, and general fuckheads like me tend to do.

Now for some tips : maby you could loosen up your body a bit .
The whole body that is . As youself said, you hunch a bit and as
you noted thats not helping overall form .Relax . Like that you can
cocentrate your energy much more easily and more effiecient when you need it .
Relax your arms and free your hands and wrist from any tension,
conserving energy by staying relaxed is a biiig plus .
To feel less in a rush, slow down your rhythm just a bit - that will
make those ducking clippers much easier and more compact .
Set, let the bag rise towards ya head, at the same time, bring your
feet closer to each other ( i.e. stand up "normally").
Then, prevent your head by being hit by a viscious footbag, and duck it !
Straighten yourself up once more, do a clipperstall . Repeat .
One last thing is your pixie ; i think its the, and i think its the due to
the fact of rushing them .
I'm sure when you practice it more as a single trick to hand catch -
maby do some in to out atws for appetizers - it will clean up it self
and get deeper .
Then pixie>pixie, eventually pixie to any donwtime component of choice..

Another thing ( quite important actually ) : play more on your toes, esp.
while doing clipper related shizzle !

I dont know how long you play for, but i say you have what it takes,
shred hard and please keep at it :D
I really like your vid, keep em coming and mayby you should start a blog
to keep yourself and us provided with info on your latest developements .

wow thanks very very much! what a nice thing to wake up to

ben - thanks man, ye i was thinking that too but thought it rude to ask, nice to know we are on the same level. ye my whirls were done after my dad kicked me out of the room i was originally training in! and next time i was gonna move about, see where the light is best and the footbag is easy to see

and ur right it was very drilly, like i said i just filmed my new programme which is pretty much all drills with a bit of freestyle at the end, ill keep that it mind for next time!

Daryl - HA! Us british footbaggers are there, just gotta know where to find them i guess ha. ive been thinking about going to worlds for a while, but ive been saving up for aaaaages for a trip recently planned to japan in the summer, and have a feeling this might drain my bank so not sure whether ill be able to make it to worlds. however, i will be looking out for worlds and other competitions next year and plan more in advance. having said that if i get some summer work or something and manage to pull together some cash quick like then u might just see my pretyty face there :D

thanks for the advice, will definately take it into account. ye my pixies are weak, been working on them to put a set into my repertoire and thought the drill might kinda force them to imrpove but i think i need to do more of them on their own like you say.

ill let you know if i pull together a blog as well, might be an idea!

Aleksei - Thanks man! HA! well glad you liked it and that i could raise your mood

Overall ill try and loosen up next time, i think you're right that its the tension in my whole body that makes it look strange to me. ill maybe video again soon to show any development :D
