proper form
proper form
what can anyone tell me about proper form? specifically relaating to how you land your feet. is it true that its better to land on your toes? i am working on warding off shin splints and have been following all the basic advice but i m wondering if there is anything that i might probably be doing wrong style wise that would help. i could have put this in the injuries thingy but i think that this goes beyond that.
Why does it matter who he is? I've been in here for awhile and just recently removed my name from my sig. Its only "recommended" that you have your name displayed anyways.who are you?
I mean, seriously, I'm never going to meet any of you. And even if I do, i'll introduce myself to you then. I don't need my name displayed on this forum for the sake of "fitting in" or "making us closer" or such bs. Personally I think its really really weird I know the names of countless footbaggers of whom I will never meet. Too much information.

What are you trying to hide? Personally I find you thought to be ignorant and really disrespectful. If you won't take the time to remember my name then why the hell should i remember yours? And by the way your account can be removed for not having your name in the signature.
if you don't like the way this forum runs then get lost creep.

Never said I didn't like the forum. Its fine, I just don't understand the obsession with posting our real names. I think most of the mods know I'm not a troll or a llama so theres nothing to fear. And I think that was the supposed point of names...to deter trolls?
And no, I'm sorry, but I DONT really care to remember your name, zach4th. I think thats the problem with posting names, we all want to be all-stars and known by the whole community. I got over it. I'm just another nobody who plays the game of footbag. You can know me by my forum name. Besides, people who play or have played together tend to know each others names already so I don't understand the point of displaying them here...ya know?
I didn't mean to start a big fuss but the first name basis here I find pretty superficial.
To stay on topic: Land on your toes, don't slouch, and for the love of god do a magic hop.

try to land softly and not make much noise
keep a straight back and keep balanced while doing all moves
practice perfect form on all basic moves first then move on up to tougher ones

hahah, NICK! props for actually answering the question.
another tip: get video if yourself, and if anything you're doing looks out of control, unbalanced, akward, or otherwise lame, try to fix it and make it smoother.
Also, consider going to my youtube account (matthewcross) and checking out the interview with Jorden Moir. He says a LOT of stuff in that interview that would be good for a younger player to take to heart.
Just a few thoughts. hope to see you on the scene.

i am a footbag player from georgia, i have been shredding for 1 year and have advanced well, i think. the reson i asked this is because i have shin splints and they hurt! i have been resting and i was wondering if always landing on your toes will hurt less. i will now go and read all your posts.

And i have just read all of your lovely posts. I have my name as my umm name, i dont think i need it in my signature also, my last name is salzman if you want to find me on facebook, i only have some older shred videos, i think i can say i am better now. Also, i would like to meet any of you since i have only met one footbag player in person, drew nickelson who has taught me everything and who i shred with constantly. ( a guy gave us a dollar while we shredded and begged outside of the movies yesterday) oh and yes i shredded for money, dont care what you say, i wanted to see iron man!
i take calcium pills, i toe tap occasionally not as much as i should, i stretch a lot and i have been taking extremely long breaks between sessions. my shin pain moved from the top of my shin to partly...umm like the back part kinda. i have shred mats. i also have a perpetual soreness in my legs, like you would get after a long workout. it is wierd, and i stretch a lot but its like it won't go away even after a week of not playing. and i work on remembering to land on toes.

Take Nick's (sidekick) advice to heart. Straight back, balance, and staying on the balls of your feet, but not too high like mentioned earlier, is key.
Are you using the original insoles? I used to get really bad knee pains and shin splints but then switched to a brand of insole called superfeet. Those helped a lot. and once those started feeling better, I moved to low-profile spenco's and those are fantastic!stephanos wrote: i think. the reson i asked this is because i have shin splints and they hurt! i have been resting and i was wondering if always landing on your toes will hurt less. i will now go and read all your posts.
