Jeff- O's footblog

Post by JeffOverbo »

Somehow I find it nearly impossible to escape the grasps that footbag has on me, not that i particularly want to. However, I have been busy with this new semester starting and training for my upcoming jitsu NAGA tournament this Saturday in Vegas. I have also found it hard because I just got out of a relationship with a girl who figured I must be her dog, but thats not how i roll.

In Reno I am the only footbag freestyle player, although I have had the opportunity to play with Chase Burns and Kyle Hewitt. Twice on campus I have seen a circle of people kicking, however I am not one who is good at promoting footbag, or anything for that matter and because of that I always play indoors where no one can see me. Edit: Id like to play infront of people.

I feel I am better now than when I quit, I feel breaks are good sometimes. Although I feel this way, I have come back and done nothing but drilled basics, then towards the end of my sessions I move up to drilling strings.

I will post either a video or drills/things I hit during sessions to give anyone who reads this blog an idea on my level, and hope for suggestions back on style or strings to drill.

Happy reading :)

So just got back from the grappling tournament down in Vegas. I took 3rd, however I only lost to 2nd by 2 points, which would have been tie if ref weren't blind. I did not get to play with Ben and Evan while i was down there because I ran a fever right after the tournament.

Now that I am inbetween training, I have a lot more time to focus on footbag but I am still woozy after the fever, and when I tried to play it was a failure.. so more down time :\. I need to ask Santa for a new pair of Quantums and a new footbag

Here are some pics from the tourney

i know man i cant wait to be down there for thanksgiving, we should film. I have been drilling a ton of different concepts, and my guiltless runs are getting longer and longer and more diverse. Its getting cold here, however its not like i play outside, but I feel I am at the point now where I would feel comfortable playing infront of people.

Remember, people will be impressed with atw's and stuff like that. So, if you're guiltless then you're mentally gay. Cause you'll blow their minds.

Havent posted in a while, been busy getting back to Reno for school after the Vegas Jam, and starting school to say the least. Vegas jam was a blast, Jim, Zeb, Dylan and Sonny stayed at my house and it was pretty chill. Played a lot of pool, fooseball and texas holdem. Then went down to the strip one night. The shred was great at vegas jam. I really hadnt been practicing at all before the jam, but for some reason i was much better than when i played last. Which has been the case several times throughout playing footbag.

When everyone had left except Manna, he Evan and I got together for some more shred, then a buffet at the casino. I was playing semi decently although my hip was hurting me from the Jam.

A few days later was my last day in Vegas before returnign to school so Evan and I got together for one last shred. I played absolutely horrible, i think I quit footbag 4 or 5 times during that session.

Anyways school is back, and thus my life is destined to suck for the next 3 months. It is far too cold to play outside, and I have no one to play with here. However, I do plan to make trips to Boise to meet up with the freedom crew on any breaks that we get, although spring semester blows.

I do however get to play inside my dorm room, where I have figured out how to make space by sort of Jenga-ing all the furniture. Drilling tonight was absolutely awesome. Some highlights include:

Butterfly  whirl rpt. x9
Tap  Tapdown  pdx mirage rpt.
pdx whirl x 4
atomic opp legover x2 both sides
ducking clipper x9
diving  ducking rpt x2
rubberman
atom smasher x3
tap  atom rpt x1

Getting better at ducking, but still have trouble, I only do well when i focus on planting my feet after the clipper.

I need to be more active on these forums, i am extremely capable of procrastinating in school, and im sure modified can help :P

Many people find it easier from osis, but I do not. Maybe it's cause my osis sucks though. Anyway, the important thing with inspins is to slam your set foot into the ground as fast as possible. The rest of it is just like a normal spin, though maybe a little faster. Set straight, keep your arms in, and push off your set foot hard. Good luck.

Setting straight is key and keeping balance while you spin.
