We've had this discussion a number of times on modified already. At least 5/6th of the film, if not the entire film has been completely discredited.
It's a great example of how if you say something in an authoritative manner, a number of people will believe you. Let me put this to you.
The basis of scientific method, the view of the world that has brought us the widespread use of electricity, the internet, penicillin, the end of polio, all the methods of fighting cancer, cars, etc. etc. is the idea that you should believe the status quo unless there is evidence to suggest otherwise, and that if you believe something different to the status quo, your first action should be an attempt to prove what you believe to be wrong.
I challenge you do that right now with your conspiracy theories - especially any of the theories from the Zeitgeist, but also any other conspiracy theories you believe. If you believe these theories to be true, make a genuine effort to prove them wrong. If you can't, come back to me, and I'll have a go.
Conspiracy theories are for people without skills in critical thinking, science, reasoning or rationality.

Well as I said in the initial topic, the first half of part one is backed up by far more reliable sources, although the explanation given is certainly neither logical nor evidence based.
Ie. It's probably that much of the Christian story was heavily influenced by other religions and that the stories related to seasons and sun worship, rather than literal events - many different people support this view. However there is no reason to believe that this was at all deliberate, in fact that would be completely counter to any of the views that scientists and historians argue about the development of religion. Nor is at all believable that there are cryptic statements in the Bible referring to this. Rather many of the stories in the Bible were communicated through word of mouth of thousands of years, and as society changed, so did those stories, but they still have remnants of their origins in bedded in them.
The links between the stories in Christianity, sun worship and important seasonal events can far more easily be explained without invoking any kind of Christian conspiracy.

Sorry I didn't word that very well.
When I say that the first half of section 1 is backed up by more reliable sources, I mean there are more reliable sources (Dennett 2006, Winston 2005 etc.) that make the same claims. I didn't mean that the actual movie listed any meaningful sources, and indeed as far as I recall it did not.
