extending string length

Post by jpaige »

I find that my strings tend to be very short (max of 12-15 tricks) and are usually around 7-10, although I dont repeat tricks on the same side. For example common strings include mirage, legover, clipper, butterfly, osis, and/or illusions, pickups both sides with some other 3-4 adds mixed in (plo, smear, dimwalk ripwalk, whirl, swirl). I could definitely double my string length if i just doubled the tricks or say hit legover 4 or 5 times to recover my string but it doesn't seem like this is good for progress if im trying to extend links by hitting a clipper or legover every other move to reset. My question is which should take preference, hitting strings of 20+ where 10 of the moves are clippers and legovers or links of 10-15 where only one or two tricks are repeated. Im trying desperately to hit all the two adds from toe bsos consistently but I'm not there yet, but i think it would be easier if i just constantly bailed to strong clipper-> mirage (or pickup) to get the other less consistent tricks in like pickup/illusion from toe. I dont like repeating the two adds because it feels cheap to add to string length but maybe this is better than hitting 8 unique and dropping every time?

I do a couple 40 - 60 contact 2add strings, before I even attempt a 3. I then do BOP variations for another 40 - 60 contacts.

Then I shred. My average shred length is between 12 - 40 contacts.

Doing 2adds is not cheap at all! It is foundation. Repeating tricks IS how you improve your string length. With time you will replace repeats with uniques.

Go out and shred already.
