I managed to get this shoe cheap in my size on ebay. Unlike your typical fancy leather Laver (the ones with crazy colors and the plaid patterned leather), this shoe is lightweight like the mesh Rod Laver. The Tweed Herringbone exterior is sort of like denim, so it has a pretty good amount of grip to clipper with it.
The tongue and insole of the shoe are the main features that differentiates itself to the typical Rod Laver. The tongue is thin, flexible, and made of leather - I assume this feature mirrors the Nastase tongue. The insole is made of a nice cushy leather as well, and I feel it is much more comfortable than the stock insole of the mesh and leather Laver. However, for something as rigorous as footbag, whether you remove the insole with a Spencos insert or not is up to you.
The only thing I was dissatisifed with the shoe were the stiff boot laces it came with. Be prepared to buy a new pair of laces because the stock laces are difficult to make an efficient knot.
If you're looking for a nice black shoe for footbag, this is a good buy if you can find a pair in your size. It mods like a leather Laver, but if you're put off from having to cut the exterior of the shoe for modding you're only limited to the toe. The denim on the sides are very grippy so you don't have to mod them if you don't want to (though I'm not too sure how well this surface would keep itself intact if you mod the interior off). It's very lightweight, which is a direct contrast to the newer models of the Rod Laver shoe on the market.
