I've recently become addicted to freestyle footbag. I've scoured this gold-mine of a website. I'm planning on picking up a pair of Climacool's. I read up on many pages of this website. I know Laver's are the most popular and widely used, but I've had several knee surgeries and need a shoe that can cushion my shredded knees. From what I have found on this website, Climacools could be my best choice.
I have found several kinds of Climacool shoes. Many of them are exactly what I don't want. There is nothing on this site about the Climacool RU. There are many of these on eBay and from what I can gather they look very similar to the Climacool 1's shown on this site. Before I purchase, would these be the kind of Climacools I'd want for modding purposes?

Well, get a quick-drying silicone caulk to fill in the gap in the instep, and lace them like I lace lavers in my laver mod tutorial vid (search Youtube for "matt cross laver") and that will be enough to get you going.
There are two more mods, much less necessary than a relacing job and a caulk fill on the inside, those being:
Cutting the plastic adidas stripes and the little filler stripes off the inside plastic, while minimally (or without) damaging the underlying superthin flexy mesh. You need a razor and needle-nosed pliers for this. CAREFULLY cut the stripes at the top and bottom with the razor, and rip them off with the pliers. This is not as necessary on the outside surface, and is not really necessary on the inside surface. But, it makes for a SUPER flexible, super ventilated, super sensitive, yet still strong inside surface. Do it only if you're feeling adventurous.
The second is to remove the top layer of the toe surface. Once again, razor is necessary.
also, a third is the brocka cut, where you remove part of the instep ankle. I don't recommend this, but then, I don't need to do it, either, so I can't really speak on it.

Thanks! There is a climacool mod on these boards by Mosher I believe. It's a damn good tutorial that covers almost everything. Thanks for the tips... I've got pliers and exacto knives. I have to pick up some silicon caulk. When I get the shoes I'll see if I need the brocka mod or not. It's hard to say if I'll need to do it or not until I throw these badboys on.
