12/8 Blur help

Post by hrdcorethndr1 »

...I have read all i can about the 12/8 blur and i thougt i was stitching it correctly. I have found however, that i cannot figure out where i have gone wrong, so i turn to the masses for help.

Here was my attempt at a nice bag for my girlfriend
Image

If you notice the lower right hand of the bag. THREE Pink hex's! I don't know how this happened, can somone point me to where my this bag could have taken a turn for the worst, or a link to a topic that will solve my current pattern issue.

Oh and sorry about the lighting, my room has dull lights.

basically, the two lowest red hexes in the photo need to be black, and the lowest black one needs to be red. with blur you should never have 3 of the same color touching, as is the case on the lower left and right sides.

+1 - nice explanation, will!

Zach, combine will's advice with a few different 12/8 blur pictures, and you'll be all over it!

12/8 blurs typically have 2 hex colors
Color (X)- 12 Hexagons (red)
Color (Y)- 8 Hexagons (black)
-Around every pentagon there will be 3 of color red and 2 of Color black
-Color red will form multiple doubles (as in the case of the top two red of your center pent) (taking this will Will advice, you will never have 3 red (or any color) touching eachother)
-Color black will never touch eachother and will form squares (as in the case of the top four black hexes in the picture)

Once you get one down, or if you have a tangible one to look at, it just clicks.

Bag looks cool. What kind of yellow is that?

You got too stuck in the moment of stitching. When stitching a 12/8 blur pattern, concentrate on laying out two hexagons (12) that form the "horizontal/vertical" adjacent panels on the bag, and use the 8 hexagons of this pattern as the "corners."

This mistake is fixable. Just redo the the lower two pentagons and you're back on track.
