A (TRUE) Tale of 2 Footbaggers Meeting Eachother... TWICE...

Post by F[uns]tylin' Eclectic »

So a while back, I was at a Ska show in Philladelphia. I always bring a sand bag to hack with people at Ska shows, so when I got there, I pulled it out and started hacking with some friends, while waiting for the first band to go on. Just then, something caught my eye... 2 OTHER PEOPLE AT THE SHOW WERE HACKING. My friends and I walked over and asked if we could hack with them. They said, "sure, but our hack is leaking". I whipped out my Sand Master (which, again, I only use for hacking with other people, not freestyle), and everyone was overjoyed that we could hack worry-free and leak-free! The kids we were hacking with were pretty cool, and we shot the shit about the normal things people shit shoot in hack circles. Then the band started to play, we said good-bye for the time-being, and we'd hack again after the band was off stage, while waiting for the next band to play. Ska Is Dead Tour 2010 was off the hook, by the way \m/

Anyway, weeks and months and weeks and probably a few days passed after the show. Then just recently, actually yesterday... I was surfing Modified and saw a post about a "Noob In Philly", in Getting Started. His name is Kurt Zubry. I talked to him and told him he should come down and shred with us since he's in the area. He said it sounded pretty good and we started talking and he found out I liked Ska music, from my last.fm ticker. Then he proceeded to tell me that Ska is the reason why he started footbagging. He was at this Ska Is Dead show in Philly this year and he met SOME FOOTBAG KID who showed him and his brother some tricks and influenced him to get into footbag. That footbag kid was ME! Unbelievably, Kurt and I met at the Ska Is Dead Tour and afterward he was influenced to get into footbag and was looking for someone to kick with. Then we re-met on Modified and had this crazy epiphany-like realization!

We've been talking more and he's gonna hop the train and come down to shred with my crew sometime soon, and maybe even come to East Coasts with us! Can't wait to meet him a third time :P

THE END

Just thought I'd share this crazy "small-world" footbag phenomenon with everyone. Anyone ever have something similar happen?

nice story!

I met someone at the allgood festival in West Virginia and then saw him at Funtastik later that summer and the next year! He even had lavers at the festival that he had laced and modified based on my mod video!

That's awesome! It's so cool to meet new footbag players. That's one of the big reasons I love tournaments now. It just feels like everyone's one giant family who all share the love of abusing gravity <3
