Short Shorts?!

Post by Dawn Of Freestyle »

I know that short shorts for guys is not in style, but we all know that some moves require our shorts be a little shorter or it's just not going to work.

So how short is too short?

I'm asking this because I'm thinking of having some Freedom Footbag shorts made and have found them with 5" 6" and 7" inseams.

Let me know your preferred shorts length for footbaggin' using the poll below.

Thanks!!

The shortest inseam I have in my collection is 5" and the longest is 7". I seem to prefer the shorts with around 6" inseam. The shorts I typically wear are boys size XL adidas or nike soccer shorts. Adult sizes are just too long (obstruct view of bag, or catch bag on stepping sets) and anything smaller than an XL is tight in embarrassing (not for me, but for other people :P) places . I also prefer shorts that do not flare out.

I found these last night.

I would get them in black and white (blank) and add the Freedom Footbags logo. They have a 5 inch inseam and come only in adult sizes.

any thoughts?

(not sure if the image thing worked...I'm new at this!)

OK so the image thing didn't work!

Rory, I totally know what you mean about embarrassing for other people...even I used to get embarrassed when Daryl would wear his short shorts!

I'm still having trouble finding the right style and the right length...unless people are good with a 5" inseam. I've found some at 6" but not in any cool styles. Yeah, I totally know what you mean about the flare - not good.

If I'm going to order $500 worth of shorts, then spend additional funds to have our logo put on, I want to have something people will buy and love shredding in![/url]

the shorts i wear (medium adult adidas soccer shorts) all have a 7 inch inseam. i'm 5 foot 7 with a 33 waist, they are about 2 inches above the top of my kneecap. i would say either 6 or 7 inch inseam, 5 would be a little short (pun very intended).

taller players would probably prefer 7, folks my size might prefer 6, though i've never had any problems with mine (haven't done much uptime dexing though)

I want to make sure that a player could do 50 consecutive ripwalks without the shorts getting in the way!

(I actually have footage of Penske hitting 50 consecutive ripwalks in front of the Westminster Prominade...can't remember the year though...but it was back when we lived in Colorado and Kenny Shults was visiting).

When you want to add an image, you are going to want to right click on the photo and go to properties. It will give you the web address of the actual photo and not the webpage. Hope this helps.

I vote for 6". I wear compression shorts under my shorts when I play and I think that if the inseam were an inch smaller, the compression shorts would hang longer than the actual shorts while standing, lol.

Hey thanks Donovon!

So could you guys just wear them a little lower on the hips!?

Damn, I wish the shorts above were offered with the 6" inseam. I guess I could keep looking -- there seems to be some sort of consensus forming around the idea that anything less than 6" is just too short.

personally, i do not like how shorts made of that shiny material look or feel on my legs at all... but that's just my opinion. otherwise, i think the middle ground of a 6" inseam would be best... if they want it shorter, hike it up! if they want it lower, pull em down!

I'm with Cale on both counts -- 6'' inseam and I prefer the thinner type of fabric that soccer shorts are made out of to that shiny fabric that you see in a lot of basketball shorts (which I'm assuming is the type of fabric in the pic that was posted above).

Just personal preference though. :)

These shorts are absolutely fantastic. Heard of them from Dave Clavens in which he found out from Waylon Lew. I have 6 pairs, all in different colors. They look great, play great, feel great, and the colors last through multiple washes; as expected from adidas products. These shorts used to be $20, but now on sale for only $15.

I wear the medium size, as preferred by Dave Clavens, which offers a 6.5 inch inseam, the large is 8 inches (seems a little long, but if worn at the waist its perfect for most people in the 5'-6' height range)

These shorts are made out of super thin polyester that actually makes it feel like your not even sweating, apparently its part of there "ClimaLite" technology. Very interesting.

From what I have read, it seems like you are trying to buy pairs of shorts in bulk that you can have a logo pressed on. I would try coming in contact with a screen printing company that carries shorts, or talk to the people at adidas or any other soccer company. You can probably find yourself a nice deal; considering that they have team bundles, sales, ect..

Heres some help..

Budget=$500, you can buy 32 pairs of shorts without a screen printed logo. With a logo you can probably get around 20 pairs or so, depending on where you go. Yet again, there are probably way cheaper shorts out there and very affordable screen printing companies; but I feel like footbaggers need the quality. We love the sport, and the gear we use is a huge part of the equation in the math problem of our sport.

Let me know how this information helped you.
