When do you stretch?

Post by Zeke »

I used to stretch at least for half an hour before every session. I would go through a set routine then kick a little bit to warm up some more. I've been really lazy of late, now I go straight into freestyle. Takes longer to warm up that way, though.

Anybody like to kick a little bit first before they stretch? I heard that its generally a good idea to do it before any activity. But I've also heard that its not good to stretch "cold" muscles and to do a light warm up first.

I've never streched before footbag, but tonight I'm going to.

(I like playing at night. It's when I feel most motivated. Like at 10 or 11 o'clock)

i play ten times worse if i dont stretch, and i get sore and cant play as long. since ive started stretching i can go 3 hours solo session regularly with no cramps.

also bout the kicking, I got a pretty set routine:
---stretch every leg muscle and some upper body
---100 consecs.
---10 toe>op toe then 10 inside>op inside, then 10 clipper>ripwalk>10 clipper

then i start basic dexes:
---sometimes ATW (ten in, ten out, then same on other side)
---miragex10 (consec) then other side
---same with illusion
---then 10 legovers
---mirage>legover drill as many as i can get

sometimes a few of these:
---mirage>dlo
---illusion>eggbeater

then i start guiltless moves and combos and harder drilling, thats not as set up though.

so yea, basically i have a really set routine that i adhere to BUT this is only for long sessions. if i have to have a short one (like an hour) this crap goes out the window and all i do is stretch then shred. its kinda funny cuz i was just thinking about posting of my routine, i always wonder if im the only one who does that. its also kinda funny that i felt the need to post all this crap when all zeke asked about was stretching and kicking :P

PS: somedeay i wanna hit my whole warm-up routine without dropping. i just thought of it today and i got as far as the mirages before i dropped. in total it would around 85 tiltless contacts

i would be real tired after that warm up. I dont really take it seriously enough to do all that warm up before i kick. I probobly should stretch though.

I used to only stretch as a warm-up, but lately, I've found I feel like shit the next day, so I've started stretching as I cool down.
I'll let you know how that goes

It's probably a good idea to stretch, but when I start I just do some regular kicks until I feel like I'm stretched out enough to try and do some shredding.

I stretch before and after now these days, if i dont my muscles get sore like they are now. After I stretch I do the fast legs/high knees thing to get my legs moving, i dunno what thats called lol.

Most important stretches before footbag:

1. groin (you know why)
2. knees
3. hips
4. neck/shoulders.

This is just my preference, but can be done in 5 minutes . With a break after kicking for a few minutes if I feel the need for more.

And at least do a little strectching afterward, if only for a minute, it will pay off.
