Who has the Best Nukes?

Post by Jorden »

I'm just wondering who you guys think has the best nuclear set. Btw, the last two are a joke in case you didn't realise.

I'm not going to vote - cuz I'm not in the know. But can I ask? : Am I alone in thinking that nuclear sets are in some way easier than other sets that "look" easier. To me, atomic, stepping, and quantum are all harder. I can't do any of them, but just having tried them - I come closest to nuke more than anything. I guess when you suck at all of them, one of them has to be the easiest ;)

That's crazy talk Ozone. :)

Daryl nukes all the time, makes it look easy, both sides. He even nukes after paradox torque and invented rubberman 2, but Penske can duck his nukes. It's a really tough call, but I might have to go with the genzu, cause he's really more of a specialist with nuclear set.

Heh, believe me, I'm in no way belittling nuclear sets. I'm quite a spaz trying any set other than pixie. Hmm, gives me an idea. Maybe I should make a video :) Should be good for some laughs :)

I define good by how high and controlled they are. Penske and Derek can duck them. But Penske gets my vote. Its really close between Penske Daryl, and Derek.

Don't forget Ellis. He was one of the first to consistently hit tricks out of the nuclear set.

Just thought I ought to follow that post.

I think I was the first to hit Pdx Leg Beater > Pdx Atom Smasher way back in 98. No one else was doing Nuclears back then, though Tuan Vu probably invented it years before. Now I've stopped Nuclears altogether, bc it makes my knee pop in a bad way. I might bust out Nuclear Torque once or twice per year just to know I can still do it, but that's all. Also, I think I was the first to hit Pdx Atom Smasher > Leg Beater, repeat.

Ok, I'm done.

its super close between derek and penske i think.
i havent seen derek play for like a month. but he can nuclear duck on command. his flip nuclear was getting better last i saw too. i have some rad clips of both sided nuclear in the video im working on. he hit 5 matadors inna row after he was playing for like a few months. hes hit 69 both sides. super close to alpine 69. hits blurry torque out of alpine matador...
derek is good. all i ever see penske hit is matador. very rarely both sides. genzu's nuclear is really low. props for inventing rubberman 2 though :D

No one's mentioned Yacine? He was the first to duck nukes and can string nuclear tricks pretty easily.

was he the first to duck nuclear?
derek was ducking nuclear before overground came out..

EDIT: i could mention that dereks also hit nuclear torque, nuclear down double down, nuclear whirl, alpine sumo, pdx predator...and he was saying he was close to nuclear ducking torque a while ago.

EDIT #2: dereks been playing just over 2 years i think. i guess he started in summer 2001? scott ellenberger of hackrifice was at the tournament where overground was released and brought it home a few days later. maybe the footage was filmed before derek had even started playing though..?

How long has Derek been playing? Overground is of 2001 footage. I'd only been playing a year when he'd hit that. I'm not even sure of if he did it earlier than that even.

I hear Johnny Murphy in New Zealand has a wicked Nuke set. I will report on it when I get back from my trip in January hopefully. And yeah, I was surprised Eli wasn`t initially included in the poll.

I'm surprised that I'm included in the poll. I'm even more surprised that somebody actually voted for me... someone must have spilled their drink or something and in the confusion the mouse clicked on the wrong choice.

Anyway, there's TONS of people out there that have WAY better nukes than me. Eg: Dubya.

But seriously. I'm in no position to judge anyone's skill with one set. I would have to shred with all of those people for a month to find out for myself I think.

BTW, it doesn't really matter for how long you've been playing. It matters where the skills are at in the present.

You hear correct, I was about 5 feet away when he busted alpine matador>something>something then passed it to me (not like I was gonna get anywhere near regulating that). Not sure if he can duck it on command yet, but he's got most of the common ones both sides + nuke spinning osis, cold fusion (waiting on a backside version), blenders, barrage (I wanna see that), whirls ... basically sick, can't wait for nationals to come back around (4 months away and already getting that vibe).

Derek you're a real artist aren't you, although I guess to get better you have to be you're own worst critic sometimes, any chance on alpine cold fusion?
