internet speeds

i just got my new computer a couple a day ago and going to get telus adsl internet for 3 months free.

This is when i remembered about telus internet when it first came out and the said they had dsl internet now they say they have adsl.

My question is there a difference bettween dsl and adsl.

There are different flavors of DSL, with different speeds and different ranges. ADSL stands for asynchronous digital subscriber line. That means the upload and download speeds are different. This is what most people have. There's also SDSL (synchronous), and IDSL (isometric), maybe some others that i don't know about. Theres tons of info at http://www.dslreports.com

so then there really is no difference bettween dsl and adsl, its just that dsl is the basic name that is modified right?

im on adsl. we kept switching between dsl and cable. the dsl is a BIT slower i think. but we have no download, upload or bandwidth limits or any sort. the limits on cable were really absurd for how much my family is online..... >______<
