bag prices

Post by richardabshire »

I was just curious about what you guys think about bag prices. For the labor, the price should be higher. I don't want to turn anyone away because of price, but stitchers have to eat and pay bills like most of you. Please give me some feedback. This concerns the new footbags I will be releasing this year and next. Most of my profits go right back into the sport for research and player development after the rent is paid.

Between 30 and 40 for my vote... and yes, I just thought I'd voice it too. What that means is that it can be as low as 30 dollars or as high as 40 dollars, that range I'll leave you to pinpoint at your own discretion. I'd happily pay around 35 for a bag, considering that its quality would keep me happy for an excess of a year or so, if good care is taken of it. We don't want 40 dollar footbags falling apart; but anyone who would charge over 25 dollars has most likely taken the time to ensure that they wont. :) Peace.

it really depends on your budget, but i say you still make the 30$ mini bags and the new ones. The new ones should be higher priced the demand on them will be great

Most people would say Mike Wilson is a good stitcher right?
Three years ago I bought two bags from him at $20 dollars a piece as opposed to Abshires which were going for I believe thirty.
Now for the people who have built up their preference of which bag they use this makes no difference, because they will pay the extra 2 bits for what they like, but to the young kicker who has just decidede to ween off a fuzzy alpha, such that was my self, the less expensive of the bag seems like the better descision.
Also I don't know what Wilsons go for now,nor the life of any stitcher, because that will effect the needs of profit, but if Mike wilson could sell them for $20 why is it that there is such a demand to increase the net amount of a bag. But... it's all economics, and if people are willing to put forth the extra money, more power to the stitcher. I encourage the maximzation of profit. I think that a person should try raising their prices as an experiment. If there is a greater intake then prior, continue with the sale at that range. If sales drop and loss of money occurs then modify back to before or a nice middle point. People who are willing to spend the money will, and people who are not won't. I myself would try the least expensive before going for the top order.

Perhaps Wilson was only doing it as a hobby, and didn't really want/feel the need to charge much, since it was just a supplemental income.

Also, Richie, I'm just curious, exactly how do you put money into player development and footbag research? Can you elaborate on that?

i agree with Ripwalker on that they should be 30-40 because i understand you have that stuff but you could possibly like make them discounted if they buy them at an event or something to make them more popular and more pricy on line/phone/mail. I bought one of your bags @ seattle for 30 and i know why there 30... there really good.. props on the bags.

I'm willing to pay top price, for a top bag. We all know the time/effort/work that goes into a bag. 30-40 is definitely feesable (spelling?)

Player development is one thing most people in this business don't do. I work with new players to instill the right form and with older players to condition their bodies to handle this sport. I am always working on ideas and products to help this sport rise to the next level. I would rather see a footbagger in charge of a business that contributes to the sport. I will be coming out with some crosstraining equipment this year sometime. Until now there really wasn't a market for any serious products in this sport. Simply because the sport wasn't evolved enough for the market. With the surge in players and player skill, this transition will take into that next level. We are world wide, both sexes, all ages, and all races take part now. This is very exciting to those of us who remember a small tight knit sport and have had the chance to watch the growth first hand. To all the newbies, keep shredding and spread the word.Richie

So long as the quality is there, I'll pay for it. $30-$40 isn't that bad, especially since there is other things you could be doing in that time. Also, as long as the player can get ahold of the sticher in case of bag emergency, that helps with the price as well.

I said under 30 becuase if you sell a bag for $35 USD (for example), the get's to be around $50 CDN, which sucks :(

Although I agree that people should pay inbetween $30 and $40 for a bag, it would be nicer if it was lower.

I think that 35 bucks is the most I would spend on a bag. Of course, I've only been kicking for about half a year now. What's the most that you guys would spend?

i have one of them, but i didn't pay for it and there's no way i ever would. it's my dad's from the early 80's when he was a circle kicker, and it's cool to have just as a kinda collector's item but there's no way i'd pay that much money for it, there're so many other better uses for my money
