What's up everyone? My name is Troy. I am one of the owners of KickBag Sports. A new company located at http://www.kickbag.com. We would like to meet all of you guys at the X Games in philadelphia at the First Union Complex in the Interactive Village.

We have teamed up with Kenny Schuyler from xFootbag to bring some crazy footbag demos to the Action Sports Demo Area in the iVillage. Kenny is basically kicking freestyle and consecutives over cars and picnic tables and stuff. I think audience participation is also allowed. We really need to show the world that footbag is more than a fad or an extreme sport. It's the one truly pure sport that stands out in front of all the rest for the development of mind, body and self-awareness.

We are really excited to be bringing footbag to the X Games. We want to see you there. We would also like to get your opinions of our footbags while you are there. We are sure that most of you will like them once you get your feet on them. We have bags that are more than a year old with some pretty heavy kicking.

On a seperate note...
There have been a lot of people talking smack about us on this board and others. Such as that we are corporate somehow. Mitch(my partner) and I are the furthest thing from corporate as you can get. Just two guys with an idea of how we can grow the sport of footbag through attractive bags at reasonable prices and find a way to keep kick'n it forever. Give us a chance.

i was looking at your web site. i am not sure what killaseude is either. im guessing kinda like ultra seude. are any of the bags on your web site good for freestyle, cause dude thats where your going to get your money ( in my opinion). if you promot freestyle and your bags stand up to abshire and wilson bags your probably going to get alot of people wanting your stuff.....and stuff. just some thoughts from a guy, hope you read that. ( im not always right tho

Ok i didn't really wanna touch this one.. but i guess i like to tell people my point of view as well because others might feel the same way. First off i haven't talked any smack about your site .. yet.. IF your.. 'killaseude' is anything like facile leather then its prolly a good bag. If you started with anything cheaper it jus wont break in like others bags do(Richie, Wilson, ect.) What kind of fill do you use? Beads? Seed Beads? Those big plasic light crappy beads? Sand? Being a 'Freestyler' these things are important to me. I think what some people are tying to say is .. who is your target audience? Newbies? Or do you want to get to the pros? I know, alot of questions, but to some of us who only freestyle... the bags look a lil .. 'cheesy' I guess i need to buy one first. Then i can either praise you for makin a dope bag.. or rip you a new ass for trying to put out a crappy bag. I like to be blunt.. but i dont smoke em anymore

I think that the X-games is pretty much the comp. with the highest chance of adopting footbag, or at least having it appeal to the audience there. I'm not sure about the over picnic tables and cars, it's cool *but* I don't know if that's the best way to introduce people into freestyle -- it's unless you want it to be eXtreme-freestyle. Maybe I'm a pureist, or perhaps I don't want it to be seen as gimmicky -- either way, I'm sure you'll find a very interested audience regardless of what you do

Good luck, and i'll be checking out the tele every once and a while in hopes of seeing the demo.

right, we could have freestyle, and extreme-freestyle for the xgames. I would just hope that the extreme wouldnt overpower our original sport too badly

http://www.footbag.tv - Freedom Footbags (formerly Revolution Footbags) *makes* and sells footbags in the US. To my knowledge, other than the independants(Carol, Richie, Mike etc) everybody else imports their bags from the 3rd World where labour is cheaper, so the product is cheaper so they can have a higher markup and make more money.
Ethics aside, I'd rather support footbagger's that make the bags themselves.
oh yeah, this thread is supposed to be about the xgames.....

OK! We got some good, some bad and some indifferent posts here. The only option I disagree with in the poll is "No." The other three are right on target, as most agree. Footbag is huge, and I believe we can meet somewhere in the middle.

The good news is that we are still going to be at the X Games promoting footbag as an action sport. Freestyle is not the only flavor of footbag, but a lot of people that are kick'n it at world's are going to be freestylin' at the X Games. Footbag is wide open to many individual definitions. I, myself, respect all kickers, but some people that really love footbag can't freestyle in the traditional sense.

Again, we are going to be in the Interactive Village and anyone is invited to come chat, kick or fight with us.

Al has a point. I prefer to support the community and its own development. Somebody once told me "footbaggers are poor". Therefore, I agree with al that it is critical the community builds itself up. I liken it to the development of the freestyle BMX scene in which the people who pioneered the sport really profitted from its evolution inoto the mainstream. However, I see the need for exposure and corporate exposure can help. I realize that you are probably walking a very fine line on this one. All I can suggest is to find a way to accomadate both. If you have felt besmurched by such it maybe just that you are a new company and no exposure has come to your product. Or maybe, it is just because you seem to have come out of nowhere. Nevertheless, I wish you luck in your endevours to promote footbag. Just remember, footbag to many people does not equate to profit.

Thank you for your insightful post, hotstepper.

The people that made the sport sold it to whamm-o and whamm-o buried it. Oh they sold it to Adidas too. I don't believe they deserve anything, because they have been paid well from the sport.

We are not corporate! There are only two individuals in our company, and a few friends to help along the way. I have been kick'n it for over 10 years and a bit back in the 80's when Hacky Sack was introduced. That's not an aweful long time, but I am not some schmuck just trying to make a buck off footbag. I love footbag more than I can iterate in this silly little post. And that is all I really want you guys to know.

If we were corporate, I wouldn't give a shit what you guys thought. I wouldn't be able to be reached for commenting. Corporate, to me, means a distinct seperation of someone's actions and their accountability to those actions. We're right out in front, man.

Our company is grass-roots, dude; underground for now. My partner is an amazing BMX flatlander that does not compete because of his love for the sport. The same reason that we don't compete in footbag.

I deliver pizza at nights to make ends meet so does Mitch, my partner. We are poor. $17,000 last year for me. So, we are the things that you guys demand, but how can I relay that to you, and why do I feel the need to? Not sure.

Well, that is all the defending that I have for myself. Thank you so much for being able to rant in your forum. I appreciate the forum and I hope to kick it with anyone, who has been reading, at the X Games.

I can't wait to see footbag at the X-Games! I want some more info on it though. When is it? What events are going to be represented? Also, Chromahoen I respect what you're doing so I want to know about your company... or... underground company

. So... what materials do you make your bags out of? I know you say KillaSuede but what the hell is that? Is it similar at all to facile? The people on this forum primarily use facile for our freestyle needs... Why do you say the things you do on your site? Is it to be cool, or to reach out to a certain group of people, or what? Anyways.. if you make good bags we'll all hear about it anyways in a few months just by word of mouth. So anyways.. props to you (because anyone that makes bags gets automatic props because they're promoting the sport... Wham-O is a different story though lol). Anyways... if you answer my questions and the answers are favorable I'll prolly buy a bag or two because I've been needing a new one for a while. Thanks.

but yes. i give props to you guys. it's probably a pain in the ass to post something about that which you have worked so hard toward and hear a bunch of punk kids bash it. myself included

Any exposure is good exposure. I kick with one other guy in KC and me and him have decided to go kick at the movie theaters on firday nights to get people opened up to it. It works! We get kids 11 years old busting legovers the very first day. I think it'd be rad to have it a part of the x-games. And man, if your bags are good then they are good. period. It doesn't matter who you are or what you do, if your bag is good for stylin, then start sewin! It's nothing to do with image! But it is kinda hard to tell without trying them out first. Material, stitch, weight, filler, and size all make a HUGE difference. And untill people start kickin with em, we'll never know. They look pretty well priced. So I say get some people opened up to your bags... send a couple to some pros and see what they think. Shit, I'll break one in for ya!
