PC Video storage
yea, so videos are posted on modified all the time, and i know that people like me dl and save every single one of these vids.
i dl them all to 1 folder, as it grew, it got more disorganized. now i have like 400 files and its hard to find what i want.
now my question is ... how do you all organize ur videos.
:: Do you just have them in 1 messy folder?
:: Do you make a separate folder for each type of video?
(by vid maker or by who the vid is of?)

Go here (http://www.download.com) and type ' Video Organization ' in the search bar, you should get alot of different programs come up. Look for one with a high raiting and is freeware.
That should suffice for now, if your looking to spend some money, download some trials of professional programs on download.com and buy the one you like.

If anyone feels up to organizing and zipping their collections for future upload to my FTP on or about the last week of August (tentative, not sure when this site will go up) it would be awesome!
Looking for content to put online in an archival sorta way (new footbag resource).
Permissions for videos needed!

I have 14.9 gigs of footbag footage on my harddrive. That's 3209 files. Probably more like 3000 even since there are a few random things thrown in like footbag related images and music. It is all horribly organized which bothers the fuck out of me since I am such an organization freak. There is a reason though, I burn them to CD (having a DVD burner would help this a lot!) so the organization is mostly by date. But for every CD I organize generally by country or club. For example the most common subfolders in my seperated CD folders are, "Europe", "Japan", "Oops", "Australia". Almost every CD folder contains a "Europe" folder, and all the older folders contained an "Oops" folder.
I have been thinking of reorganizing, though, since I am such an organization freak. If/when I do I will probably organize first by "Favourites" or something similar. This folder will contain videos like 100Bars and Bila Lavice, Allan Haggett's CSS videos -- basically any REALLY REALLY memorable video. Then I would organize by country, and then area and then within area probably loosely by date. I will probably put a lot more thought into this when I actually do it though

I have a few approaches. The first is by player. So if I have a lot of vids containing a player, I usually create a folder for him/her.
Then I have folders for each vid intensive website - hackrifice, flipsider, monsterhack etc.
That way if, I want to see a vid of vasek, its easy to find in his folder, or if I want to view massive tricks, I look under flipsider.
I have a few other folders as well, misc (where everything else goes - need to organize that), moves (single big tricks that doesn't match any other criteria), worlds (routines and shreds for players I don't have a folder for), etc.
I think you should use whatever strategy makes sense to you. It should just be easy to find what you are looking for.
What also helps is to rename videos with cryptic names. (ex. if someone names their file "my_first_vid.ext" change that to "john_doe(beginner).ext". It makes it easier to find stuff in a folder with lots of files.
