Don't ya just love it when you hit?

Just to clear up a common misconception though, an infinity is when you do two clipper set op butterflies back to back, thus creating what slightly resembles an infinity symbol. Hitting one is hitting a butterfly.

I had understood an infinity as just an op clip set butterfly, I dont think it is dependent on the trick preceding it.

That's why I said that it's a common misconception. Look at a butterfly, there are 4 basic types; toe set same, toe set op, clipper set same, clipper set op. If you think about it logically, why would one of those have a different name than the rest. Also, again, doing the move once looks nothing like an Infinity Symbol, but doing it twice does.

If you don't want to look at it logically then just take my word for it as someone who's been in freestyle for 9 years and knows what an infinity is.

but then what is an infinity swirl? Is it butterfly>op butterfly swirl or is it just clip set op butterfly swirl - I'm pretty sure it's the second.

Personally I think "infinity" is named so, because if you hit lots of them (ie try to go for ever) the bag makes the infinity sign. The point about infinity is you can't do one infinity - it has to keep going (not talking about the footbag move here).

I also think that infinity is the commonly accepted name for clip set op butterfly. To be honest I don't care if that's correct or not.

One of the things that really frustrates me about footbag is that when a particular name is very obvious and when used everybody knows exactly what they are talking about, people still feel the need to be pedantic rather than using common sense. The stupid debates about triple barfly are the pinacle of this kind of brainless debate. There are parts of footbag jargon that are actually confusing - why waste time debating things that aren't.

anyway it's 5.10 am so maybe I won't be so annoyed after some sleep.

However from now on I will endevour to call clip set op butterfly "sine wave" just for Brad (and will give the credit to Tom for naming it)

but is it really a sine wave if it doesn't doesn't go through one complete period...? arg... I am way too bored at work right now...

I was under the impression that the drill butterfly>repeat was called the infinity drill... similar to bap drill or rubberman. I always get confused when people hit a butterfly and call it an infinity... It is really just half of the infinity drill. hrm... I am engaging in mindless chatter... I'll shutup now.

Props anyway for hitting a butterfly! Nice job and keep up the good work!! Footbag rocks!

well, sine wave is just a cosine wave shifted half a radian in either direction
