Carol bag problem

I got a carol about a week ago, and the panels on it seem to be getting really thin and there are a few holes from the filler since the panels are thin. I dont scrape the bag onto my foot and I wash it every 2 days. Does anyone else have this problem? This isn't the first time a carol of mine did this.

I have heard that since she uses aquarium rocks(if I am not mistaken) that they will eventually start to tear the bag apart. Not sure if thats right or not.

DON'T WASH IT EVERY 2 DAYS

Carol uses a facile that is already very thin (which makes them so sweet) and washing it thins out the fabric even more. You should only wash your bag once every month or 2 unless it gets reeeally dirty.

If your Carol is only a week old, *even if* you are washing it every 2 days (that would be 3 times tops), you shouldn't notice holes in the bag already. the aquarium rocks are abrasive, but the fill is not entirely aquarium rocks, and they wouldn't break down the fabric that fast, unless you were being too agressive with the breaking in process.

sometimes certain colors of facile blowout quickly, or sometimes the facile has been stretched around the end of the bolt and has tiny pin holes in it. most of the experienced stitchers (including Carol) know about this and make sure that the facile they use is of high quality (not prone to blowing out, and not from the end of the bolt)...HOWEVER, there is always the occassional early blowout or early hole happens sooner than later -- this could merely be a bad batch of facile...not the stitchers fault. It happens. fortunately, it's the exception and not the rule.

I usually get out my flexible fabric glue early on when I notice a weakness in the fabric and lightly patch over it before it has a chance to blowout. Then, I enjoy the fact that the bag will probably break in SUPER fast, but have a short life. sometimes I get really thick and stiff facile, and then it takes me longer to break in, but the trade off is a bag that I will have for at least a year if a take care of it.

Buy some flexible fabric glue if you don't own any...you will find a use for it if you plan to play footbag for a long while. No doubt, you'll own lots of footbags, so if you have a lemon, then your odds are that your next several bags will be sweet. if you're breaking in your bag too agressively, then chill on that and try to be patient. I usually start breaking in a new bag by using it only for warm-up kicks and hack circles. once it's loose enough, then I start freestyling with it. that's why I always have at least 2 bags...one for the freestyle session, and one that I'm breaking in for when the other needs to be retired.

I wash my bags more than people in here are recommending. I can't stand kicking with a dirty bag. keeping it clean keeps it soft. dirt breaks down the thread and fabric faster. so, for an old bag, keeping it clean is essential. for a new bag...letting it get nice and dirty can help it break in...although, so can washing it excessively. it's really preference. I have a technique that works for me, so I'm sticking with it. i could share that technique, but it's nothing that special. I'm tired of writing for now though, so adios!
