Hey, it's my first post in my footblog so I thought I would start off by telling you a bit about my footbag history.
Incase anyone is wondering, I'm 17 years old now and will be going into grade 12 next year.
I first started playing hacky-sack (circle kicking) about two years ago during school lunch hours at school with some friends. Eventually I ended up having alot better control over crochetted hacks than most other people that kicked in the circle. I learned to toe stall and do a flying clipper, and eventually a butterfly kick.
Somewhere along the way I found footbag.org on the internet and it opened my eyes to a whole new world of "hacky-sack".
Anyways, in October of 2003 is when I got my first Freedom Footbag (Mr. Sandman) from Flipsider and officially started learning freestyle. About a month after that, my best friend Colin Esplen (Serial Thrilla) started getting into footbag as well. Also along the way, me and Colin met up with Cole Hobson and Sergey Pikalov who both attended Acadia University which isn't very far away. Cole also lives in Colin and mine's home town when he isn't in school.
Currently I'd consider myself a strong tiltless player. My runs usually consist of alot of two and three adds, and a few fours here and there.
My trick list:
-Mirage (BS)
-Pixie (Need to school flipside)
-Illusion (Both sides, but not consistant)
-ATW (One Side)
-Pickup (One Side)
-Legover (BS)
-Clipper (BS, + clipper set 2-adds)
-Osis (Strong on one side, schooling flip)
-Butterfly (BS)
-Refraction (BS)
-Paradox Mirage (BS)
-Whirl (Schooling flipside)
-Toe Whirl (Schooling flipside)
-Ducking Butterfly (Both sides, but need to school flipside)
-Ducking Mirage (Both sides, but need to school flipside)
-Ducking Clipper (BS)
Tricks I've hit, but not many times:
-Paradox Symposium Mirage (One side)
-Ducking Paradox Symposium Mirage (Wasn't perfect; clean enough to count; One side)
-Dimwalk (One side)
-Paradox Whirl (One side)
-Paradox Drifter (One side)

Since I didn't shred today, I'll post about yesterday's shred session.
Colin, Cole and myself kicked for a couple hours yesterday afternoon outside Colin's house on a dead-end street near the top (the circle) right in-front of his house.
Shred was pretty good, Cole brought along a carpet mat to use as a shred mat. It actually worked pretty good! I didn't mind it at all, I think I hit a few good things on it as well.
I hit Paradox Whirl and Paradox Drifter for the first time yesterday as well... nobody even saw me hit the Paradox Drifter though
. Colin hit his first DLO too!
During the last 40 minutes or so of our session, we noticed a 10-year old boy laying on his front lawn watching us play. So with about 20-25 minutes left before we were to leave, we asked if he wanted to come play with us. He was really enthusiastic and seemed to have a good time circle kicking with us. He actually wasn't bad either!!! Cole is a really good teacher to kids apparently, lol. We taught him the toe, inside and outside kick. And most often than not, if we served him a decent serve, he would kick it back to us! He caught on really quick and loved playing. Cole tried to teach him how to toe stall, and the kid (Jamie was his name) actually hit a toe stall on his first try!!! We were using a Mr. Sandman, but still... first try, lol. He hit quite a few afterwards too, he was picking up really really fast. One time that the bag was served, it stayed aloft for enough time to make it to everyone (including Jamie) about three times... he just kept on kicking the crap out of that bag (in a good way)! Another kid on the street joined us with about 5 mintues left, but he seemed easily distracted... I think he has ADD or something. He didn't really seem as interested as Jamie was either. Anyways... we told them that they were welcome to come play with us if they ever saw us kicking on the street again.
All in all, pretty good day I'd say.

Today Colin, Cole and myself planned on meeting up with a new shredder named Lacy who lived in the area. We found her on footbag.org and have been trying to arrange a time to kick together. She planned on coming out today, but a family thing came up and wasn't able to make it. So us three set up camp outside Colin's house at the top of a culle de sac (dead end street), which is a nice area by the way, and prepared for some shred. Also, the 10 year old kid named Jamie that came out the other day with us saw that we were kicking and came out to play with us again. But to our surprise, he went out and bought a footbag!!! It was a Hacky Sack brand, filled with pellets. It was kind of a twist design, maybe three panels or something. It was pretty cool, he stretched with us, went in and brought out his own water, and gave props sometimes too if we hit some sick stuff! He really seems interested in learning.
Today there wasn't a shred circle at all. It was all schooling, teaching and hitting new stuff basically. And at the end we played a game of contacts which we didn't get to finish.
I started schooling my stepping set today, and was very very pleased with the results

-Sidewalk (Three times, once on flipside)
-Crispy Torque (Twice)
-Blur (Twice)
-Stepping SS Mirage (Once)
Man was I ever stoked. The first blur came out of nowhere. I never tried it before, and for some reason during our game of contacts (you form a shred circle, but theres certain rules and points to the game) I decided to try to bust one, and it was close as hell. So then after a few tries I hit it.
Combos that Cole hit were:
-Atom Smasher > Atom Smasher (He's hit it once before)
-Hopover > Dyno (Very cool looking)
Cole also hit a pretty sick 10 contact guiltless run as well!
Tricks that Colin hit:
-Drifter (First one)
-DLO (A few times today, he hit his first two days ago)
All in all today went pretty good... and to think, I didn't even want to come out to shred today either
. I'm definately glad I did... I'm going to school stepping (both sides 
) hard now. I almost ducked a couple stepping sets too! There were two close ones, but it still has more to go. I'm not going to worry about ducking my stepping anytime soon, it was just fun to try.
I also hit a Butterfly > Butterfly > Paradox Mirage > Toe Whirl combo which was pretty cool.

Well today me, Cole and Colin kicked with someone new. Actually, Cole has kicked with him before. His name is Brian, and him and Cole used to kick all the time back in the days of high school.
Nothing great was hit today, Cole hit a couple good BSOS stuff... can't really remember what though. My leg's are incredibly tired from 6 hours of biking (while after having "a few" drinks) last night... so that may contribute to why I played horribly today, but maybe not. I'm coming somewhat close to Blurry Whirl, but about half of my dexes on Whirls are 'the' in certain sessions, so I need to school Whirl more.
Tomorrow me, Colin and Cole are kicking with a new girl named Lacy that's in our area. Should be fun.

Sorry I haven't posted a blog in a while, it keeps slipping my mind.
Anyways, today I had a shred with Colin, Lacy and Cole. It was effin' awesome. It was mostly just schooling, which was good considering the three of us (minus Lacy) need to get our stuff together for World's and competition.
My new moves and combos from today:
-Smear (x 3 one side)
-Paradox Whirl (x 1 on one side)
-Butterfly > Crispy Torque > Ducking Clipper (x 1)
-Osis > Crispy Torque > Paradox Mirage > Toe Whirl (dropped on whirl)
-Ripwalk > Ducking Clipper
-Butterfly > Blur > Toe Whirl > Hand Catch (x 2, one side)
I am so close to ducking paradox whirl, I'm finding it easy now. The dexes on my whirls are a little thin sometimes, but they are improving.
Colin hit Tap and Whirl for the first time today. He also hit a cool combo of Dimwalk > Paradox Mirage > Legover > Tap (footed/dropped).
Cole hit some sweet stuff too, but you can read about that in his own footblog.
Lacy hit some more legovers, atw's, pixies and is learning mirage. She hit her first few pickups as well!!!

So yeah, after a year and a half of no footbag I'm going to start training again. Sooo I suck again, not like I was ever really good or anything though. I intend on keeping records and reporting them here, we'll see how far that goes
