About stitching bags

Its crazy to see how so many people aspire to sew bags.

It takes a long time to make a good product so dont be disappointed when your first 20 bags are shit.

Even when you produce a great bag, it only takes a week or two and then you begin to see its faults . . . something Ive allways battled with.

When sewing is fun its the best thing ever. When sewing because you want to make money, sewing's fun quickly disipates (sp?).

Sewing to make money is a frivolous pursuit because you will never become wealthy unless you sew and sell your bags for 100 dollars each.

I can't wait for the perfect bag to be sewn. I wish there was a footbagger who loved to sew and has enough money to really invest into finding the absolute best materials for footbag making. We need multimillionaire footbaggers to hand-stitch footbags .

also I think its great that there are so many new stitchers, I think that everyone that is serious about footbag should give it a shot and see all the work that actually goes into a good 32, but I agree people should only sew for fun and not to make money because to be honest there is no money in bag sewing, its like slave labour in terms of profits

for real, it reminds me of all the little indian boys over in indaia makeing carpets an rugs, but ya i think it be great if there was some one who would enjoy makeing bags an be good at it an beabule to make backs for ppl an sell them for a nice price, nice price meaning under 50 dollars, i have no problem paying that much money for a bag. I understand how much time an skill gose in to every stitch in a bag.

Till the day some milti millnare shreder comes along, lets just stick to lonns an abshiers good call

my new plan is to grow up, make a ton of money, and then I'll sponser someone to make a better bag... excellent... sounds like a plan... but yeh there are much easier ways to earn money even when your a kid...

I just wanted to thank you for this and say that I thought it was a great thread. I think a lot of people getting into the sport are young, curious, and have a lot of free time on their hands. These people get obsessed (in a good way) and want to give stitching a whirl . I don't think that a lot of these young stitchers plan on selling their bags. I've been thinking of trying to learn how to sew myself, because I've tried my hand at a few bags a few years back. But I don't have any plans of becoming a seller or anything. Anyways, I thought this would be great for people to read. I remember there was a similar thread a year back or so (pre-mass deletion - PMD) about different stitchers and how long they've been stitching and how much their bags are. It was a good thread. It may actually still be active; I'm not sure.

As far as footbaggers dedicating their stitching career to making better bags, I think Abshire IS doing a great job of seeking out new ideas and opinions, and putting them into play. I only wish more people had the time and drive to do it. I bet it's because a lot of them are also trying to push the sport further.

Good stuff Jeremy. I know what you mean about sewing for money too. I'm starting to sew and money never came accross my mind. I think for one it would be awesome to learn to make good bags and be able to use your own bag that YOU made and consider it choice. Also other people enjoying your bag and benefitting from it would feel so cool I think.

Money is important, but not the most important concern when stitching. I started stitching to make bags for myself and then people around me wanted to buy some and then boom. I was a stitcher. My main concern is producing the next level bag. We have bags for every level except the next level. Bags that provide the performance and quality we all look for in a good footbag. I have had a hard time blending the performance and the durablility of bags to produce the all in one. That is why I am making bags for more specific reasons in order to help those players out there looking for a certian bag. Hope this helps,Richie
