Chainmail footbags

Do any of you own one ? What's your input on them ? I was browsing through ebay and I found some, they look really cool

I played with some back in the day. As I recall they were a lot of fun, and you could do tricks with them. Actually, it was better to freestyle with them, cause kicking them hurt my feet, whereas stalling was much more pleasant. Definitely a good wind-proof bag, as well as one you can use when it rains.

I've already posted this picture in a couple of threads now, but since you
were asking, here's mine:

This is a chainmail footbag by Brian Goldner. Ask Lon Smith about it,
he sent me this one. It's fun to kick with, although it is quite wobbly
in the air. Also, it is very slippery, so stalls can give you a hard time.
As for the weight, it's not much heavier than a standard 32-panel bag,
which makes it fun to kick.

I never thought of it as a serious alternative. It's more of an obscurity,
and a well made one as well.

My friend Mario that I shred with often stayed a little longer at the drum circle shred session one day, and some guy saw him kicking and walked up and gave him one. Right place right time. I agree that it can be a little slippery, but yet sometimes it suprisingly stuck. Mario busted his first Phoenix on it

not as bad as a crochet, but for mesh lavers almost unusable when
it comes to stalling the bag.

I paid nothing for the bag, but Lon told me that Briand Goldner can
make more for about 15-22$ each.

It might be cheaper to buy one through ebay. I'm pretty sure I saw some on there for only 10 bucks, and about 2 dollars for shipping...

i thought you ment chainMAIL liek you mail a footbag around or something...that'd be really cool..start a new bag in the mail with a list of what you hit with it in one session,the next person adds their session,then the next and next so on and so forth...see how long it takes for the bag to either die or get lost in teh mail

Something tells me someone would take it. But that would be fun... especially getting a bag that vasek busted huge with or something. I just ordered a chainmail bag off ebay. I hope it comes soon.

I got one custom ordered from the chainmail guy... I don't know his name off hand... $30 and an international money order (dude lives in canada....). it was a fun alternative... I had a chainmail bag with links on the inside of it as the filler... Fun to kick... Sometimes painful, but fun.

I saw a titanium on ebay for 20. It looked sweet, but I didn't want to spend all my money so quickly, so I went for the 10 dollar one. I think it's just aluminum. They have copper ones too.

That would be awesome. Provided there;s like some sort of trcking device and the people that we mail it to are trustworthy, that would kick ass... we should do this.... maybe with a crocheted so no one cares anymore...

I have a couple, there really heavy and hurt your feet after a while. there fun though. In the seventh grade i had a essay i had to write on any topic about midevil times and i chose chainmail armor as my topic. Just for the hell of in it i bought 2000 14 gauge galivised steel rings. Ive been making chainmail ever since. and obviosly i make chianmail bags. I make mine all metal

I think there is a lot of potential in Chainmail Footbags.

Brian Goldner was very helpful with modifying the way he would make the chainmail hacks.

I think a lighter metal with a rough texture with loose single rings inside the crochett style shell is the best.

I think Byoern has the one like that which I special ordered from Brian Goldner.
