Ultrasuede with pinholes after 4 hours!

My new ?ultrasuede? 12 panel is falling apart after 4 hours of shredding. :P

I bought some purple ultrasuede (at least it was labeled as such) and now after 4 hours of shredding, it's getting pinholes all over it. It's got hundreds of such holes already.

It may be due to the 75 grams of 4mm BBs I have in the bag, and all the times I drop it on the pavement while practicing... But still! My old bag was made of something called "moleskin" (nothing to do with moles, or skin...) and it lasted at least 3 weeks before losing a BB!

I'm quite upset, as this is currently my only good bag. I'll probably end up replacing 2 panels on my old moleskin bag, and go back to the fabric store to find another suitable fabric.

I'm pretty sure that if you didn't put 75 grams of BBs in there and didn't play on the pavement so much, then you would have bags that lasted a lot longer. Well, I'd like to press enter right now, but apparently this chat box is all screwed up and blinking out. When I press enter it gets retarded. Weird. Anyway, most of my bags weigh about 30-something grams and that is already quite heavy, so try using about 40 or so if you like heavier bags. 75 grams of BBs constantly hitting your foot and/or whatever surface you play on will wear a bag to shreds in no time.

Too much filler for that type of fabric. Stay around the 50 gram max for ultrasuede and facile. Any more than that and the life of the bag will be days instead of months. Hope this helps, Richie

Alright. I'll move down to 40 or 45 grams, but I really liked the weight of the bag at 75... I'll probably make another moleskin 12 at around 65 because moleskin lasts so long, and make a lighter ultrasuede. I might also fill with a few BBs and a bunch of sand to cusion the impact a bit. I'm still experimenting. Sucks to be without a good bag though... I'm forced to use one of my dissected post cereal bags, with 200 BBs in it (66 grams) It doesn't stall as well as I'd like, but it's better than my other lightweight bags.

the same thing happend to my bags..... that's what happens with really heavy bags.... the bag hits the pavement...hard... the weight of the bag and the roughness of the pavement isn't a good mix. my seams also started to bust...thread was not strong enough under the weight.. there's not much you can do about it except for playing of a softer surface... but eventually your bag will still fall appart sooner then light filling..... try mixing it with light filling.....and i did try mixing sand with BBs...i don't suggest you do that, doen'st work as well as you might think..

I whipped up a small 4-panel crushed panne with 33 grams of BBs and a bunch of sand, and it works REALLY well. I think the panne will hold up better with a lot of sand in there too. It sits down better than any of my other bags, and I do like the weight (probably about 40-45 grams)

hey props on trieing a 75 gram bag. The trend of bag making definatly seems to be the heavier and smaller the better. i personaly asked Lonn to make a 46 gram bag and it feels like a rock. And rocks ROCK!!

Even the crushed panne is no match for 55 grams of filling... It sprung a large leak after 2 days. :(

I've made a 6 panel crushed panne now that's around 47 grams... I hope it will hold up better...
