SE Shred pt.2

Post by Elliott »

hey hey,

i think it's about time for another TN + GA + Al fusion technique. so post what Saturday is the best for you in October. personally, i like the 2nd, 16th, & 30th. please do not say the 9th because of the net tournament in Memphis is set for that weekend. let's just take a vote on it, huh? location and venue are also up for grabs: Nashville? Huntsville? Atlanta? a large quantity of input is needed...so let's have it.

Canada would be cool, so long as those bastard Canadian shredders didn't show up. Any weekend/venue combination is fine with me..

By the way, last year's TN tourney was on Sept. 27th, so we could call this the 2nd Annual TN Jam if we so desired.

my attendance will depend on whether i have a vehicle to drive or not but right now it's looking like i will. i work saturdays so sundays are better for me personally. i can probably get off IF i have like 3 weeks notice tho so we should set a date soon. i can't come on a saturday if it gets scheduled at the last minute. which weekend doesn't really matter to me, i'd say the sooner the better cuz my car will have less time to give me problems lol i can get to nashville or chattanooga but i can't drive any farther than that so i can't do huntsville or atlanta this time. might be a good idea to do it in chattanooga this time since that is most central. and i'll be in nashville area next semester so maybe all of us TN guys could get down to atlanta the next time?

The 2nd is definately no good for me, I will be in Gulf Shores. I don't know anything about the other dates, but I think I could work it out to be there on any of them.

my attendence... well i dont know. you all have to remember that im only 15 and i dont have a car to drive around in and im in high school. so to drive (how many hours) there and back in a weekend is tough. its doable but tough. my brother could drive me. so depending on where it is, and how much gas money ill need, ill see what i can do about attending. but i really really would want to go.

okay, so the 2nd is too close and the 30th is too far away, let's shoot for the 16th then. since i have never had anyone arrive to a shred before noon...the times should be roughly from 1-6 P.M. now the idea of a central location seems to work for the majority of people. i apologize to those that are not located within the SE beltway. Brett has moved to Huntsville, so i doubt he could host; he even had less time now that he's in college.

the most central nodes are Chrissy in Dalton/Tunnel Hill, GA and Andrew in Rome, GA. do either of you guys want to host? let's get the word out soon. i would like to have everything (location/venue/time) settled within two weeks of the shred. plus, whoever hosts might have to make reservations at a local recreation center. let's go, chop! chop! if no one wants to host, i can hold the event in Murfreesboro, TN (30 miles SE of Nashville) on MTSU campus without much trouble. i know that location is the key, but organization is a close second.

I would say the 16th cuz it's my fall break. I wouldn't really mind where we play as long as it is no more than 2 hours.

i might be able to get to tunnel hill but rome is definitely too far for me to drive my car... i haven't been able to drive it out of town in over a year so i am not 100% sure how it's going to behave. but i am definitely leaking water (could possibly even have problems with the radiator or something) and having problems with overheating. so the farther i drive the more i'm pushing it. chattanooga wouldn't have been bad cuz it's only an hour and half away so i could have someone come get me if i broke down, or i could atleast get the car home again if i overheated. but rome is like 3 hours and i can't drive that far. unless ashley comes up from florida or something i would personaly like to have the location closer to us this time. next time i'll be able to carpool with the rest of the tn crew so it doesn't matter where it is then as far as i'm concerned. but if ashley comes up from florida maybe you guys should have it in rome or atlanta since it would be closer for her.

oh and the 16th sounds good but we need to confirm the date really soon if i'm gonna be able to ask off work. i work 2nd shift and just got home so my parents are in bed but i will have to ask and see if they will be in town the 16th. i shouldn't drive out of town if there is nobody to come pick me up in the event i have problems.

I think I can be counted out for hosting this one. I'm really busy lately with work and school and whatnot. I'd also like to save all my tournament organization energy for next spring  .

SE SHRED PT.2 WILL BE IN CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE ON THE OCT. 16th FROM 1:00 - 6:00 AT COOLIDGE PARK ON THE TENNESSEE RIVER. the park is downtown, it's easy to find, and most of us have probably been there once or twice.

we'll start things off between the Carousel and the Walker Pavillion near the entrance of the park, possibly moving back to the stage depending on the turnout. parking is hard to come by, but it's the best place to shred in the city. no one is hosting this event, i am only organizing it. so don't expect me to give directions to bratty teenagers whose names start with the letter M, just buy a friggin map. for more information on the park go to http://www.chattanooga.gov/cpr/parks/CoolidgePark.htm

who's in?

Sorry, but you have to show up.. we *will* hire a hitman if you stand us up, this is plenty of notice, and you know what they say, "Anywhere is walking distance if you have the time."

between andrew, alex, or chris you can find a ride. someone in Georgia must have a car. anyways you've got a couple weeks to figure it out. everyone be sure to contact all the other footbaggers in your area and let them know about the shred, despite popular belief carpools can work. don't leave anyone out.

does anyone think we should have any competitions (shred 30, sic3, big trick, or 4-square) at the event?

I think it would be cool to have some unofficial events and let players judge, but I don't think we should charge an admission (well, maybe to cover venue cost if needed) to offer a prize.
