Yup. I used to play in tournaments and everything. Never got higher than a class C (14-1600) though.

'Some' is a great word for it. Makes me terrified that you're comfortable making a distinction like that.

Two or three moves is about as far as my opening book goes

Kings Gambit i know a few of the variations, if you'd played c5 i have far less knowledge.

A friend of mine who plays chess real competatively pretty well always uses crazy opening strings against me, so that he can gain familiarity with them.

I always hated 1. e4 ... c5 the most.

I, when i used to play a lot, had a rating of about 1800...Used to play at a chess club in a little town called mt shasta. There were about 10 guys there, I could beat all but one. He was, of course, like a master, with a rating of like 2000.

Anyways...not to brag or anything, but if you would like a good challange, pm me

O and yeah...king gambit accepted is a toughie...and nf3 is the normal response to reduce mayhem...such as:

E4 e5
f4 Pxp
D4 Qh5

From there on, it gets really hard to defend much and you lose a lot of material if you're white (at least i think thats how it goes...its been a while and i have no board in front of me)
